  • Can't really say as I didn't use EaseUS. I used Macrium Reflect. Only problem with that one is that it makes a 1 to 1 clone and I couldn't figure out how to resize the partition after cloning to get the full use of the new drive. I had to use a second program called MiniTool Partition Wizard for that. But even without…
  • I'm sure there's a way to do that. I think you have to set the active partition or something in disk management. Easiest way would be to clone it and then remove the old one.
  • Also, I think the 950 only fits in the bottom slot anyway. So if you went with the 950 you could put the old one in the top slot, do your clone operation, and then just remove the old one.
  • They fit the top slot but yes are too shot to be secured with a screw. Ideally, you would use the bracket in the thread I linked to. I've got two EVO's installed in mine right now, but the top one isn't secured other than the slot and is just held down by the bottom case cover. I'm going to be ordering that bracket now…
  • Well well just saw THIS thread with info on the top bracket, so that's good.
  • Here's a couple pages with 850 EVOs and 950 Pros Amazon Newegg To my knowledge any of those should work just fine. Be aware that if you get a 950 Pro it will only fit in one of the slots. I don't remember which but the top slot ideally would have an extension bracket that I've never been able to find. I've got two EVO's in…
  • The nvme slot is backwards compatible. Two EVOs work just fine. But it's mostly a moot point since we can't get into BIOS RAID settings anyway. I'm holding out for a 1TB 950 Pro.
  • The thing that's annoying about it is that I read reviews of units that had RAID 0 boot drives. My main reason for wanting it is just so I have one 1TB partition, not so much the speed.
  • To the best of my knowledge integrated graphics are just to save battery when unplugged and doing non graphics intensive tasks, or I suppose to save wear and tear on the dedicated GPU. If the system is switching between integrated and dedicated GPU's properly you shouldn't need to disable it. If you come across a game that…
  • My understanding is that Acer has blocked the bios RAID functionality on the Predator. Instructions for enabling RAID on other Acer laptops involved putting the bios in legacy boot mode and then hitting Ctrl+I or Ctrl+R during boot. However on this system setting the bios to legacy causes it to not boot at all or even get…
  • Samsung 850 evo or 950 Pro if you've got the coin. Migrating your boot disk is kinda a PIA though.
  • I went with this. Same timings as what's installed from factory. Working great.
  • Hey there Acer-Blayn. Not trying to be pushy or impatient or anything but just wondering if there's an update on this?
  • Yeah unless I'm mistaken MacBooks use custom boards for their ssd's. They aren't off-the-shelf parts. You have to go to places like OWC for newer MacBook ssd upgrades that aren't typical SSD drives.
  • yeah I haven't seen any 110mm m.2 drives. In a Predator teardown that showed both slots used the 110 slot used an 80mm drive with an extension bracket to secure it. I haven't been able to find a bracket, but I do currently have two Samsung 850 Evos installed and they both work fine. I just can't RAID them into a single…
  • WELP the first suggestion was a no-go. As beststevie said, once you put the bios in legacy mode, it will no longer boot or allow you to get into BIOS settings without unplugging all the drives. I tried it with secure boot disabled and with only the clean, unformatted SSD's installed (an not installed), but no matter what,…
  • Came across another thread mentioning that the boot issues can happen if you switch to legacy mode without disabling secure boot. Not sure if it's relevant. How did you get back into your bios while in legacy? Just removed the drives?
  • beststevie, were you on the latest bios when you had the legacy boot issue?
  • I'd read that too about not being able to boot, or maybe it was just enter the bios again, after setting it to Legacy. But maybe that's fixed in the new firmware, which I did upgrade to the latest last night. Version 1.06. And yep I've seen that thread detailing the workaround, thank you. It just seemed like a real pain in…
  • Thank you for the reply. I did see that thread, but didn't see so much about installing on a RAID0 as about SSD compatibility. My model is the G9-791-78CE. I don't have any problem creating the striped or spanned volume, but I can't clone my drive or clean install to it. The Windows 10 installer says it can't be installed…
