  • I did manage to get BT running - for a short time - but ended up removing all the drivers for it because it was: * Too slow to connect * Interfered with other BT systems to the point where they needed constant resynching * Unnecessary in the long run I did not document the trials of doing so, but it took many long hours…
  • Well, I ended up buying an identical, used laptop and transferring over my HDD and (faster) WiFi card so I'm back in business. So took this old one apart and was able to glue the paddle back together from behind, it has lost a bit of the "tactile" feel and sound but works as it should. I'll keep it as a spare should…

  • Ah, got to "sign up" to see the price, bookmarked it though. I may take mine apart and see if it can be glued with some kind of backer-plate underneath or just buy a 2nd-hand identical laptop and swap over my HDD, then I'd have a spare and adequate time to either fix or source a paddle. • Thanks, I'm on vacation and will order when I get back. Even though the above battery was listed for my EXACT laptop, the replacement numbers listed on the battery (AS10D3E, AS10D41, AS10D61) did not include AS10D31. Very frustrating, as this was (unknowingly) ordered from China and will be too costly to return. Thanks!…
  • There's also a "solution" to the unknown drivers too. I'm thinking it's a hack and does little, but it does clear up the unknowns. Now my DM is pretty again. Russ
  • Finally got it! I remembered that I had to uninstall ZoneAlarm in order to install the WiFi card driver, so I did that for the BT 4.0 Suite and it all works. The BT Suite did fail to find a couple drivers, but it's not affecting anything... Russ
  • How's that gonna work if it never pairs? Yesterday's searching found the file "bt-8.0.1.305-win7881.zip" that installed BT4.0 Suite, which worked (sorta) as device mgr failed to find all necessary drivers. At least I know my hardware is working cause it actually found my phone and paired it. Then I got greedy, tried…
  • Yes, all that stuff is normal. Settings are checked to allow discovery and neither device sees each other attempting to pair. Russ
  • I can let my machine go out and search for new drivers and it says they're all up to date. The MS BT drivers are all from 2006, the Atheros drivers are version 10.0.0.336 dated 1/29/2016. The card did not come with drivers and those are the newest I could find. Original (2.4g) card: Qualcomm Atheros model QCWB355 (actual…
  • Nevermind, it's not important. I'll unload the drivers and save a little overhead... Russ
  • Anybody? The label to the right of the touchpad shows 802.11b/g/n + BT but it seems my hardware is missing... Russ
