  • Compared to A517-51G with exactly same screen panel, its a lot of backlight bleed. This is the A517-51G screen:
  • If youre in serious doubt - the best thing would be to find a store with A515 and ask them to turn on the laptop and start HWINFO application (https: //www.hwinfo.com/). It will reveal display data - panel manufacturer and model. I went throught the same procedure with A717-71G before purchase, since i wanted to check the…
  • According to Acer specs: 1366x768px screen resolution models have TN display, and FullHD 1920x1080 have IPS display. Two reviews (both IPS display): *remove blank space before // https: //www.notebookcheck.net/Acer-Aspire-5-A515-51G-7200U-MX150-FHD-Laptop-Review.240090.0.html https:…
  • You need to integrate usb3/sata/ahci drivers in your windows 7 installation. Almost the easiest solution is this: Create Windows7 USB stick > (remove blank space between http: and //) 1. download/prepare your windows 7 ISO file 2. download and extract WindowsImageTool http:…
  • Its an IPS screen, only question is: which panel model? According to available data A515 comes with two display models: 1366 x 768px TN panel and a 1920 x 1080px IPS panel. So, your 1920x1080 display is an IPS panel, possibly from one of these panel models: BOE BOE06c6 (NV156FHM-N42) or AU Optronics B156HAN06.1
  • Ive managed to solve "glitches and flickering" screen > used drivervga_intel_21.20.16.4508.zip. Altered power options > Intel HD graphics > On battery/Plugged in > Maximum performance. Seems to be working now - crystal clear and stable. Only thing left is Synaptics/Elan touchpad - it doesnt recognise two finger scrolling…
  • Participation part was an attempt of irony :) Wash your mouth out was reffered to "swear" windows10? :) At the moment the host is Ubuntu 16.04, running VirtualBox with Win7Pro64bit. Ive downloaded and installed all windows 7 updates. IntelHD630 15.45, 15.46 - none of those are working. 15.47 and 15.60 are strictly for…
  • Sorry to interrupt the moment of humor, but i didnt participate in mentioned discussion :) Ill try to extract newer drivers in virtual machine and test it, then integrate on live system. Though im afraid win10 installation is inevitable :)
  • Its working, but primary display "glitches" randomly every 20-25 minutes, secondary display via hdmi is blurred, there are some issues with refresh rate and colors. Im not completely satisfied. Ive tried with Intel driver assistant and it wont work: "computer does not meet system requirements" :)
  • the only intelHD630 driver that is working is this one from gigabyte (add http: //download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Driver/mb_driver_vga_intel_21.20.16.4508_w7.zip)
  • I can't post links yet. nvidia driver 388.71 WHQL is working normally. Intel driver from Intel download site: Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-45-?product=98909 couldnt get it to work. Synaptics driver: supportdrivers.info/acer-aspire-a717-71g-drivers/ (synaptics) Ive tried Elantech driver also, but touchpad recognises…
  • Update OS :))) Ive created bootable usb (legal win7pro64bit.iso) with integrated usb3.0 and sata drivers. I've used Gigabyte WindowsImageTool. On second usb stick ive installed ubuntu live 16.04 and downloaded/copied neccessary drivers: intel chipset driver, intel vga driver, wireless, etc... Ive formated SSD with win7,…
  • Yes, its WD Blue 250GB m2 2280 SATA SSD. Recognised in BIOS and working normally. Though i've tightened the ssd with M2 x 3mm screw (barely enough diameter to catch the grip on m2 plate), but seems to be tightened properly.
  • Operation successful! :) managed to loosen first clip - one finger nail broken, but it worked! Pulled the back cover off, installed m.2 SSD and returned everything in its place. Thank you very much for your help!
  • This is paradoxal, i can loosen all plastic catches except the first left one - (as shown on your picture). Theres a RJ-45LAN jack there, and it doesnt want to loosen up. Ill try again with a different plastic card.
  • OK. so basically first thing is to remove HDD and RAM, then place the laptop with keyboard facing up and loose the the plastic catch corners.
  • There are some instructions for Predator Helios 300 https://us.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/46866 Extended installation instructions - step 2: Insert a plastic pry tool on the left side, and work your way around the lower case to release the clips holding it in place. Completely remove the lower case when all…
