  • I am not sure I understand what you say. It is with installation of Win10 that the EFI partition is created; instead, it is Ubuntu installation that copies grubx64.efi, shimx64.efi, mmx64.efi to the Efi partition. But in the boot list of the bios there is no Ubuntu or grunbx64.efi or other name to start the dual boot.You…
  • Sorry for the delay, unfortunately it did not work, so I had to reinstall Windows 10 and Ubuntu.I again struggled to create the dual boot because Acer decided to make it difficult to use the two operating system with Bios EFI.Thanks you were very good and kind.

  • Turning to the network I discovered that there should be a hidden Acer partition "PQSERVICE" of about 10GB to restore the system Win10, that Clonezilla and not even gparted (linux) sees, so it could be this to prevent SSD from starting the PC. I checked again the partitions on SSD are the same as those off HDD. I have not…
  • Do you suggest me to redo the cloning with AOMEI, there could be my mistake or Clonezilla?p.s. Could you tell me if the disk cloning includes of the unallocated space of source disk?
  • The new SSD is 250GB, the old HD 500 GB; but the cloned partitions are around 200 GB.I had previously reduced the size of the partitions to be able to clone them on a smaller disk;in fact, a partition containing only archive data has not been clone.
  • Simply thanks Jack E/NJ for the discussion and for the advice. Mich
  • So to conclude, Qumox caddy, according to you is also good. Mich p.s. What does mfrs mean?

  • For the ram is fine; but my doubt is that the logical interface of HDD (SATA3) is compatible with that of VD player. Maybe, is it SATA2?
  • Hi, @ brummyfan2, I apologize for delay my late replay; the video of your link is very interesting and instructive. Thanks. @ JonM Keep in mind though, changing the internal hardware of your unit may or may not void your warranty, If this is a concern I would look into the details before proceeding. you are right, in fact,…
  • I solved. I followed the advice of this topic, after it appeared in boot list, but at reboot appear this error message <Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported ...>. A step forward ... but i d'ont understand ... I had given up in favor of Ubuntu on usb support. Finally, I decided to reistall Kubuntu. In the boot list…
  • I found this and this what you think?? As I understand it, you should rename the three modules Uefi ubuntu??!!
  • This is what i found in the >Selected an UEfI file... Enter on ----> HDD0 Enter on -----> <EFI> <boot-sav> <.> <..> Enter on ----> <ubuntu> <OEM> <Microsoft> <Boot> <.> <..> shimx64.efi grubx64.efi MokManager.efi I have not changed anything.
  • In my case the menu Grub does not appera right, after reboot start Windows 10. Spoiler (Highlight to read)Check in the Boot tab that Secure Boot is activated. Then go to the Security tab and add \EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi as a safe/secure boot option (should be called something like this, I don't have the bios at hand).Check…
