  • Same problem with spin315-51, this is ridiculous Acer behavior. Their support reps claim that they use "microsoft drivers" and microsoft says "contact your laptop manufacturer". Is Acer not even capable of starting one of their laptops and telling us "hey, it uses this file in c:\windows\system32\drivers so download it…
  • Agree with billsey, simiar problem for a Spin 3. I've tried uninstalling all USB devices so they re-enumerate, installing Chicony and Crystal and Suyin drivers, tried everything you could think of but it sits in the USB section as 'device descriptor failed'. Yol, can you still see yours as a camera in device manager?
  • Eugeny, any luck? Many many people have the disappearing from device manager problem (look under your USB devices for one with a failed descriptor). I think this is a software/driver problem, not a hardware problem. Acer can't answer what driver is used by their cameras and can't provide replacements, they seem to be…
  • Tezza, did this work? For most people the problem seems to be that the camera is gone from device manager, either completely or just showing up as a USB device with a failed descriptor so there is no possibility of updating or installing drivers plus of course Acer doesn't seem to offer any drivers and have no idea how…
  • Clark, can you please go to the driver properties for your camera and tell me the path and filename of driver(s) your camera is using? Even though it isn't working, what you have is better than most people (like me) where the device won't even show up other than as a USB device with a failed descriptor so not even looking…
  • Any resolution to this? I've got a Spin 3 and mine disappeared and now seems to be the unidentified USB device that cannot get a descriptor. No drivers (Suyin, Crystal, Chicony) work, uninstalling all USB devices so they re-enumerate, nothing. Out of warranty so nobody from Acer will respond, not that they have any clue.…
