Can I set up an OpenVPN server for my Predator Connect W6 router?
To set up an OpenVPN Server on your Predator Connect W6 router, follow the steps below.
1) Connect to the Predator Connect W6 dashboard
- Connect a LAN cable to any of the LAN ports of the Predator Connect W6 (or connect via Wi-Fi).
- Open an internet browser on your computer and type one of the following into the search bar of your browser:
- http://acerconnect.com
- 192.168.76.1
- Enter your Admin password.
When you login for the first time, you need to use the default admin password that can be found in a sticker on the bottom of the device. - Click on Log in.
2) Enable an OpenVPN connection
- In the main menu on the left of the Predator Connect W6 dashboard, click on WAN.
- Then click on VPN Server in the submenu on the right.
- Toggle OpenVPN on.
If this is the first time you are enabling OpenVPN, you will need to generate an OpenVPN certificate.
3) Generate an OpenVPN certificate
- In the pop-up message that appears after enabling the OpenVPN connection for the first time, click on Generate to create an OpenVPN certificate.
- Click on Continue to confirm the certificate generation process.
- Make sure to not power off the device during the certificate generation process. Click on Close to close this warning message.
- When the OpenVPN certificate is created, click on Close.
4) Enter/Edit the VPN server settings
- In the VPN server menu, click on the pencil icon to edit the settings.
- Select the Service type:
- UDP
- TCP
- Enter the following:
- WAN IP
- Service port
- VPN subnet
- VPN netmask
- Select the User access type:
- Home network
- Internet and home network
- Click on the Save button to save your settings.
