Press and hold power button till laptop shuts off. About 5 seconds. The turn it back on and IMMEDIATELY  start tapping the F2 key. Don't wait for logo screen to appear. Do you see BIOS menu now? Jack E/NJ

OK, this is actually a good omen. Press and hold power button till laptop shuts off. Then turn it back on again and immediately tap the F2 key to enter the BIOS menu. Does the BIOS Information tab show an HDD is present? If yes, what does the BIOS Boot tab show? A phone photo of each tab would be helpful if possible. Jack E/NJ

After pressing the F2 key to enter the BIOS menu and the black screen appears, try the FN+F6 combo again to turn the BIOS menu screen on. Jack E/NJ

Turn it back on and immediately start tapping F12 key.
Done, but still the same screen "Operating System not found"
  • I suggest that you take the laptop apart and disconnect the hard drive:

Then, try to access the bios by pressing the f2 key quickly before the Acer logo. If the bios menu appears, press f9 to restore the bios and then click save and shut down. Plug the hard drive back in and make sure windows boots.

Leave the HDD out and try to boot from a bootable USB pendrive. Jack E
