it just shut down during heaven bench, with a gpu power usage op 50k average. So it's not that.

Did you perform any updates before this problem came? Can you try making the clock speeds very slow?

i've tested my gpu with this program called occt and i've noticed that my laptop only shuts down when doing the circled tests. it doesn't shut down with the rest of them.

Does it crash instantly? Those two are the main tests for the gpu. You can try reducing clock speeds to a very low value and see if it crashes. If it still crashes one of your memory modules may be at fault.

A faulty power supply can very well cause this but since its a laptop I don't know how to find out if its the power supply.

I will try to lower the clock settings, is it possible that is has to do with the motherboard? Becaus sometimes the gpu works perfectly and sometimes barely. I saw a video of someone with a similar problem and with him it was the motherboard that was faulty.

Yes very much but try everything else before thats the problem. If its the motherboard its mostly something to do with power since without the dgpu involved the laptop works perfectly fine. If thats the case you might have to take it to a good service center. Sometimes it may be just a singe faulty component like a capacitor or something but if some part of the gpu is gone then I think its pretty much toast.

is it possible to replace a laptop gpu? and if so how expensive is that? (for a rtx 2060 or something)

From what I know, you will have to heat the gpu and its modules to really high temps and remove them. Then you have to place some solder balls and place the new gpu and its components on it then heat it back to solder them to the motherboard. But still it may not run because the motherboard may be designed to power a gtx 1070 and not something which uses more power. Am not sure though.

Thanks for the info, i lowerd the clock speeds as low as i could but it shut down in seconds. (This was also before i lowered the clock values) when the laptop restarts it shuts down almost immediately. I first have to wait a few min before i can turn it on without it shutting down. Doesn't that show it is not the gpu or could that be the gpu.

You didnt lower it too much right?

I think its your gpu which is the problem. U can try a bios update, driver updates and see if that fixes it.

    Tried that already...

Try reducing memory clocks also by maximum 2000. Core clock make it about 600-1000.

Did that when i reduced the core clocks

Then I guess its a gpu problem, it looks more like a hardware issue. I will let you know if i find something.

No problem! You can use your laptop on the igpu or in the worst case you can connect an external graphics card.

By the way I forgot to ask does it shutdown when the charger is unplugged(that is on battery)?

The first few weeks it didn't, but now it does.
