You cant't see a thermal limit slider on the advanced options?

Ok try one thing, uninstall this then download msi ab and undervolt your gpu or lower the gpu clock by about 300-500 mhz. U will lose performance but just see if that solves the problem. Monitor the power after this too.

Hi, i have my predator 17 g9 793 for 3 years now i think and since last week it suddenly shuts down while playing games. I've cleaned i thouroughly, replaced thermal paste, cleaned fans, resetted the laptop, trien undervolting the cpu, updating drivers, but nothing works :(

I will suggest you stop using your laptop as if you continue to use it in this state then you may cause damage to it. I recommend you to contact Acer support and explain your issue to them. And It would be great if you could also shoot a video of the issue and provide it to Acer support. Generally, after looking at your issue they may ask you for your serial no, name, and address. After which someone from Acer support will contact you regarding the issue. Contact Acer support is highly recommended if your laptop is in warranty.
And if the issue is windows related then they can easily fix it by reinstallation of windows. But if it's hardware related then Acer will be required to replace some parts which are generally free if it's in warranty. Thank you.

You need to unlock core voltages or you can reduce the clock speed. I think that should be allowed. I just checked that mobile gpu power limits can't be change unless you get a modded bios.

i tried to reduce the core clock speed, but the power didnt't go down. it was almost constantly around 115k

Did the clock speed reduce? Did it crash this time?

hi, I managed to unlock core voltage, only i can't put it in the minus and the power and thermal limit are still greyed out.

I don't think it's a power issue, it just crashed on battery, but the power didn't go above 70K

Because my laptop has shutdown so much i must wait 2 hours before i can sign in again, really annoying.

If power is the issue, you can undervolt only through the fan curve since you are not able to enter a negative value. You can see how to undervolt gpu on youtube and its quite a strenuous task. You can try downloading evga pecision x1 and see if you can change the voltage offset there. On mobile gpus you cant adjust the power and temp.

I already tried evga precision, but no luck. I will try the modded bios thing once i can sign in again.

So it may not be power as you said it crashed at 70w. Have you tried downgrading drivers?

I've thought of that too since you mentioned it earlier. I will try to downgrade the drivers, do you know the easiest way?

Go to nvidia website and download an earlier version.

I downloaded one from early this year, it worked well for a few hours. then i closed my laptop, had dinner and when i started it up again and launched a game it shut down within seconds of playing the game.

I installed a driver from earlier this year. It worked well for a few hours, didn't shut down at all while playing games. Then I closed the lid and had dinner. When i started it up again and launched a game, it shut down in seconds after playing. It's always like this, if I reset the nvidia settings or use a overclocking program like msi ab or asus gpu tweak, it works for a while but it always returns to shutting down.
