Just received my Helios 300 today, whenever I connect a headset it prompts me to select whether if it is a Headphone headset etc, whenever I select the headset option, my headphones sound really weird like you know that echo-ey sound you get when you plugged your headphones in the wrong way or something on top of that the mic doesnt work. The headphone part seems to work fine when the headphone option is selected, although gotta use the built in trash mic then :c

Open Control Panel Sound  settings instead. Click manage audio devices with the headset plugged in headset mode. Click recording tab and click headset mic. Click properties. Click enhancements tab. Checkmark disable all sound effects. Jack E/NJ
I dont have a "Headset mic" showing up on Sound settings. Only the microphone array. Which apparently doesnt have the enhancements tab.

I'm curious to know, can I downgrade to the older realtek drivers on this? Like the one with HD audio manager?

If the headset mic is not showing up, then its hardware is likely incompatible. All the available audio console drivers can be found at this link https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/8376?b=1

It has been confirmed by Acer that there is no such thing as "headset mic" because Acer combined the laptop's internal mic with the headset mic under a single name.

You are hearing echo because (1) you have open headphones too loud and sound is bleeding into the headset mic, (2) you have enable "listen to this device" or some kind of sidetone, (3) it need acoustic echo cancellation enable or (4) you are using some kind of virtual audio cable voicemeeter thing and it is routing your mic audio back to your headset.

It sorta fixed by itself. There was something wrong with the port itself probably. Some tugging and twisting sorta did the job. If the issue persists, warranty would be the way to go I guess.

Congrats. Use a flashlight to make sure the jack's slider contacts are visible. Sometimes the jack's external contact does not make good contact with the plug's ground or mic sleeve. Jack E/NJ
