Hi, new to the forum here. Recently, I have been getting issues when the screen flickers (not really sure if that is the term). The screen is split into 3 part, top (closer to webcam), mid and bottom. The bottom part is constantly flickering, as in it seems to move up and down and crosses over the previous row of pixels, if that makes sense. Sometimes, the mid part 'flickers' as well. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling graphics, but it does not solve the problem. The issue persists even when the computer is at start-up. Any ways to solve this issue?

  • Is the problem visible in a video recording? When you move the screen up and down, does the screen stop flickering?

    Sorry for the late reply...
There's no problem with video recording, even when I share my screen on Zoom, other social media apps, etc, there is no visible issue. The flickering doesn't stop even when I move the screen. The situation seemed to have worsened recently, even the midparts are flickering now, as I will show in the image below...
The bottom and top of the screen seems to be converging in the centre.

  • Is your notebook under warranty? Have you already connected the edp cable to the motherboard and monitor?

It’s no longer warranty. I haven’t touched any of the laptop parts, other than sending it for repair in a computer shop a few months ago. It was working fine for about 3 months afterwards. I do not know how to open the laptop casing, so I can’t even connect the edp cable to the motherboard and monitor even if I wanted to.

Some updates: opened my computer case and checked the cables. There seemed to be nothing wrong, the edp cables are attached as they’re are supposed to be. Although, not sure of how well of a state they are in.

  • I would check if removing the edp cable would solve the problem. However, first disconnect the lithium battery.

Hi, have removed it already... But when I try to reconnect them all again (in order to use for my work), the screen would not light up. Hope to solve this issue soon, need my laptop for work everyday.

I can't tell easily from the picture, but it looks like the EDP cable might be cocked to the side a bit? Looking at the black insulation it's not parallel to the connector.

  • I had this impression @billsey. But it may also just be that the electrical tape is displaced.

    Hi,

I had the same kind of issue with my laptop screen. Finally, laptop won't power on due to this issue.

Solution :  When you plug out the EDP cable (the cable comes from laptop screen to motherboard), the laptop will power on. You can use external display, if you want to use the laptop. You can try by replacing a new EDP cable.

@ARVY2020 rather than camping out on an old thread you should start your own, you'll get better results and you can mark it solved if it gets solved. Include your full model number, what specifically are you seeing and what have tried so far.
