Do you have any other external devices attached by wire to any port or wirelessly? Jack E/NJ

OK. Then what happens if you let the machine set idle with mouse, touchpad, & touchscreen deactivated? Jack E/NJ

It actually seems to not have the problem with all three turned off, but I want to watch it some more to be sure.

Remarkably, the problem seems to have disappeared, even though I am using the device with touchscreen on, touchpad on, and wireless mouse hooked up.  Is it possible that the USB receiver for the mouse was not quite seated correctly, and that removing it and than putting back in solved the problem?  Or that disconnecting the mouse and then reconnecting it did some kind of a reset?  For now, it seems to be working, and I'll let you know if that changes.  In the meantime, thanks so much for your help!

Congrats. Probably was the mouse dongle needed to be re-seated a few times to clean its contacts. Thanks for reporting back. Jack E/NJ
