cpu : i7 9750 h
gpu gtx 1660
Model Name: PH315-52
its been 5 months since i have been using it , the thermal issues have persisted  throughout,I have been suggested thermal re-pasting as a solution . the cpu came undervolted by -0.125 V out of the box , on battery the idle temps range around 45-49 degree Celsius . on ac power / while charging the idle temperature jumps to 68-70 degree celsius.

while gaming , even with less demanding games it jumps to 90+ degrees on cpu , while gpu stays around 70 degrees throughout.
i have been told to re-paste it myself with a high quality thermal paste, will that void warranty ?

  • Yes, unfortunately it will void your warranty. However, you can check this topic: https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/577183/throttlestop-undervolt-profiles-pre-made/p1

As my colleague says it will void your Warranty but only if you have a sticker covering one of the screws on the Back panel stating Warranty Void if Removed. Otherwise you can do it yourself, if you can, go with Grizzly Kryonaut, there are plenty of how to Videos on YouTube

Please click YES if I answered your question

but apart from a warranty void is it normal for temps to reach 70-80 degs on idle while plugged in ? this is most astonishing , ive been monitoring temps on xtu cpu utilization is 6-9% but temps around 80

  • Up to 80ºc, I consider it normal. However, I would try to lower that temperature:

2root2 thats normal if youre on win10 1909 check the predator fb group announcement posts to know exactly why, MS implemented a cpu core control feature on 1909 that will only use 2 cores alwasy on max even on idle while the other remaining cores will be idling waiting to be needed this makes the idle temps to be high as its always on max turbo boost only solution its to downgrade to 1903 if still possible or even 1809 which to me its the best so far the only downside its that doesnt have support for game pass (which doesnt bother me i have it on my shadow vm server)  only 1903+ so all this said 1909 probably the worst win10 version followed closely by 1803

@xapim Can you please share a link to that FB post here or share the post itself? I'm new here, so not sure which FB group you are talking about.
Also, for the i5 9300h variant of the helios 300, is 40+ degree Celsius normal while the CPU utilization is around 10% on 1909?

@xapim I repasted with mx4 and still I am idling at 50-60c . I have to crank the fan to 5000rpm just to maintain those temps. I am on windows 1909. Is this supposed to be normal?

    UPDATE :
The issue that plagued me and acer tech team has been resolved by simply restoring to a point in history and removing various windows updates .
I can confirm that the heating issue is no longer happening for now and windows puts out updates that breaks more stuff than it fixes .

Could you help me out on this one.  I've noticed that while the computer is charging and just on idle, the cpu temperatures jump close to 70.  I have a helios 2019 with an i7-9750h and a GTX 1660ti

is your GPU also almost always in use ? predator sense will always show a temp for GPU ?

i have the same setup . my problem started after second month of purchase . i did my due diligence , cleaned vents , blew air on the fans to remove dust , undervolting to reduce heat but it was already -0.125 V out of the box .
i think this was during an update from winver 1908 to 1909 . i suggest you reset windows and try . beware windows is not safe reset means latop will attempt to reinstall windows , and if that fails . you will be stuck with  corrupted OS .

i wanted to explore thermal repasting , but did not because doing it myself voids warranty and technicians cant do it cuz covid 19.
now my idle  temps are 45C (CPU ), 40 (GPU), 41(system )without AC power  . with AC its more like 53,55,50 . only crosses 70 while gaming

I am having the same issue and am considering reapplying the thermal paste. Probably that would fix it.
