Hi guys im new here please help. I have a veriton m460 and i wanted to change the cpu which currently is a genuine intel 2160 @ 1.8 GHz.
I researched and found out that that Core 2 Duo Cpu's will work since it has the same socket type. I have a spare Core 2 Duo E7500 @ 2.9 GHZ Cpu which i know for a fact is working but when i install it on the pc it does not work. The computer gets stuck on the white Acer logo screen with bios logging instructions at the bottom. The motherboard is a EG31m.V.1.0. I am currently running windows 10 on this PC. Please guys can someone assist me. Thank you

The Core 2 Duo E4600 “Allendale” at 2.4GHz FSB 800 MHz L2 Cache 2MB TDP 65W is a Socket 775 and a 2007 CPU design and is the max and most upgradable CPU and most compatible with your motherboard the EG31m.V.1.0.and system at 85% upgrade, which will improve the performance of your system by about 31% to what you have but, its not necessarily the be all and end all, you could upgrade a faster RAM and add an SSD as that will improve your system performance and efficiency even more, consider those upgrades also.

Btw, the Core 2 Duo E7500 “Wolfdale” (which you have and tried) is also a Socket 775 but a 2009 design and is a totally different CPU and is not compatible with the motherboard, system that you have, Try to finds a Core 2 Duo E4600 “Allendale” (if you can find one?) and upgrade your OEM CPU Intel Pentium E2160 CPU to the Core 2 Duo E4600 “Allendale”, which is your only option. Have a look here: http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/CPUs/Intel/Pentium_Dual-Core/E2160.html for all the CPU compatibility and upgrade option to your OEM Intel Pentium E2160 CPU and your motherboard the EG31m.V.1.0.

This is the new Core 2 Duo E4600 CPU you should upgrade to

This is you OEM Intel Pentium E2160

Hey man, i have veriton m460 with E7500 processor. i had same problem too. The solution is update your BIOS driver, download it from acer website and install the BIOS, and try to plug your E7500 processor again.
