Veriton M460 CPU not working

Hi guys im new here please help. I have a veriton m460 and i wanted to change the cpu which currently is a genuine intel 2160 @ 1.8 GHz.
I researched and found out that that Core 2 Duo Cpu's will work since it has the same socket type. I have a spare Core 2 Duo E7500 @ 2.9 GHZ Cpu which i know for a fact is working but when i install it on the pc it does not work. The computer gets stuck on the white Acer logo screen with bios logging instructions at the bottom. The motherboard is a EG31m.V.1.0. I am currently running windows 10 on this PC. Please guys can someone assist me. Thank you

Btw, the Core 2 Duo E7500 “Wolfdale” (which you have and tried) is also a Socket 775 but a 2009 design and is a totally different CPU and is not compatible with the motherboard, system that you have, Try to finds a Core 2 Duo E4600 “Allendale” (if you can find one?) and upgrade your OEM CPU Intel Pentium E2160 CPU to the Core 2 Duo E4600 “Allendale”, which is your only option.
