Hey peeps, so my Predator hit 3 years old last week and it's still running great. Only this morning I heard a loud grinding/buzzing noise from the HDD while playing GTA V. The sound is heard usually when running GPU consuming games or when the laptop is running hot. My question is, since replacing the HDD with another one might be the only solution, what HDD is supported and what should I buy? Installation wont be a problem since I do monthly tear downs, I just want to know whats compatible. (Edit) Also i'm thinking of getting an SSD altogether but i'm worried about compatibility

Thanks

@Fouzy if you're talking about the 2.5" normal hdd any up to 2tb will work (don't get sshd they're useless) more than 2tb won't fit because the form factor increases to 15mm you can only fit drives 7/9mm form factor why not get a 2.5" ssd instead up to 4tb ? But if u still want an hdd go for wd blue or the faster 1tb wd black 7200rpm anyway it's just up to you and your budget 😉

I have the same model as you and I replaced the HDD with a 5TB hard drive, following the directions/recommendations toward the end of this thread. One week in and it works fine, fit in the bay with the addition of 3mm foam on three sides to make it snug.
