How to update Intel display Audio driver 10.27.0.4 for windows10 18363 x64 Home Aspire 5 A55-54G

There were major sound issues with earlier versions of this driver after Windows updates in October 2018 and I now have a low Realtek HD speaker volume, how to update the Intel sound driver, Acer support only lists Realtek drivers and an Intel VGA driver and I have been warned not to download drivers directly from Intel, my SNID: XXXXXX.

    Most of our systems list more than one Audio program, mine has Realtek with dolby and AMD but it isn't hybrid, it shouldn't use them all simultaneously. Mine uses Realtek for music etc.. and the AMD when games or apps are launched through the AMD control center
    Can you confirm your model number because A55-515g is not a model but A515-54g is a model
    If you have the 515-54g make sure your BIOS is updated to v 1.16

    The Intel Display Audio driver is bundled with the Intel Graphics driver. Just go to Intel's website and download the latest graphics driver. The last few graphics updates are security updates --- and that means the Intel driver should update on everybody's computers.

    The Realtek audio driver and "software components" are downloadable from Microsoft Update Catalog (the latest should be 6.0.8881.1 driver with

    No Intel sound drivers for my model on the Acer official driver site, hope I never crash my Intel driver otherwise I will be in bad shape! It was suggested by another forum to uninstall my Intel sound driver hoping that Windows will reinstall the latest sound driver on rebooting, but I find that too risky: I have good quality sound (Realtek HD + Windows + Intel sound driers) just the volume is very low.

    Open Device manager and expand Sound Video and Game controllers right click the Intel Audio Driver and select Uninstall (not update), restart your computer and Windows will automatically reinstall it with the latest best driver available
    Example below is my AMD sound but you will select Intel

    The problem I have with that is that my sound system is a hybrid of "adapted" drivers by Realtek, Acer, Intel and Microsoft and if I download the Intel driver straight (not customized for my system) I may get more sound issues that I have now, hereby some info on my system. If you google the web on this Intel display audio driver you can read the history (2018) and issues....

    Puraw the best thing that you should do is run the "Intel® Driver & Support Assistant" from here:  https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html and let that guide your system for updates from there, as there could be other drivers that need updating that you are unaware of.

    My Insyde Bios is version 1.11 and I bought the laptop one month ago from Acer Philippines 515-54G-70AG MFG Date: 2019/08/24
    S/N: NXHNBSP002XXXXXX, SNID: XXXXXX you would think that the BIOS is current. the Video Bios you probably are referring to as v 1.16? is an Acer Update Nvidia N17S-G5 VBIOS to 86.07.91.00.0D Date:2020/01/09 Version: 1.16 Vendor: Acer Size: 13.6 MB, I cannot check that as Windows only lists the Insyde Bios (1.11) but I updated my Nvidia drivers recently.

    I disabled the Intel display and Audio driver while playin music with W Media Player and did not hear any difference even after rebooting thus I don't think the Intel Audio drivers are doing anything. I read that this driver is bundled with Intel UHD graphics but when I tried to update the Intel graphics drivers using Intel driver support software it crashed.



    I think I will now uninstall the Intel Audio driver and see if Windows will replace it......

    Steven, the Intel driver support found 3 updates after scanning, A newer graphics driver:

    A RST (storage) driver that I did not install and a BT driver that I installed but not yet tried.
    The graphics driver installation failed as only Acer and MSFT drivers are approved by Windows 10 18363 Home, I guess the BT was an exception.


    This was predicted by others to warn me not to install drivers directly from Intel as laptop makers and MSFT tweak them or even block some Intel Audio drivers as they interfere with Windows updates.

    I not only uninstalled the Intel Display Audio driver but completely removed the driver from the system, rebooted and voila exactly the same Intel driver, same version was back in Device Manager which confirms that the audio driver is bundled with the Intel graphics driver that I cannot update from Intel (see my other reply on this subject). I am giving up.

    first download and install official drivers from https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/7982?b=1&pn=NX.HNBSP.002 (Acer Download > your model > Driver > Audio - Realtek - Audio Driver)

    next check your "Dolby Advanced Audio (On)" , if it is off switch on that will your volume up. 
    if "Dolby Advanced Audio" is not starting with startup applications you can open it manually ( C:\Dolby PCEE4\pcee4.exe)

    My model A515-54G with Realtek audio does not include "Dolby" but comes with Acers Trueharmony audio apps. The drivers on Acers Driver support page are confusing (without proper descriptions) and some of them pertain to lower models like A515-53, The Realtek Audio Console on Acer's driver support page cannot even be installed in Widows10 1909 x64 Home and does not include a setup.exe file (see my earlier post). The Acer Care Center that came with my one month old laptop has a much later version than the one on Acer's page, it also does not update my drivers (hangs for hours so I disabled the ACC services/app, I can go on like this for quite some time like the Insyde BIOS that is not on Acer's support page and the confusing duplicate display drivers offered for my model (yes Acer confirmed my model and even the correct part number but not all the drivers are compatible for my model). I did manage to update my Touchpad driver on the Microsoft Update side and my BT driver on Intel's driver support but everything else fails. I don't even think that the Intel UHD and display audio drivers installed on my system are active (probably for a different model) as there are no Intel control panels for these drivers. Acer's (driver) support still has a long way to go.

    I found out that the Intel UHD display driver is active in my system, it apparently sets the screen resolution. I also managed to reinstall my Realtek Audio Console, you click on the Bundle folder as there is no setup.exe, and that installs the RTK Audio Console OK. Also installed Intel IRST that seems bundled with Intel's Optane apps that was already installed and has to do more with an SSD drive that I don't have installed than with my very slow SATA 1 HDD (scores 3.6 in WinSAT).

    That was a disappointment: the latest Realtek 1903 update on Microsoft Update page:

    Won't install by clicking and update driver in Device Manager ignores CAB files. When I look in the CAB file I don't see one single executable file (no .exe or .cmd). It is a driver update for different systems but not mine.

    You were right about upgrading my Bios from 1.11 to 1.16. It was suggested on this form not to upgrade as 1.16 is noted for a higher GeoForce GPU (mine in MX250) but I tested my PHYSX control panel and it works OK on Bios 1.16. What are the changes in Insyde Bios 1.16?
