hacel if you want to uninstall TS you have to completely remove/unninstall it and then completely shutdown (not restart) after boot into bios and reset to defaults and thats it but i wouldnt get rid of it anyway even if you decide to repaste it with kryonaut or similar TS will always help

I just recently started getting thermal throttling on my Acer Predator Helios 300.
I downloaded the i7-7700 and got it running. It worked great for about 20 minutes playing world of warcraft, but then my computer crashed. Any ideas of how to go about fixing it? The CPU being at 98 degrees constantly when playing is killer! Thanks :)

Ryndir if TS isnt working repasting with kryonaut or similar and  cleaning the fans and exit airflow properly its the only solution if you can yourself without voiding your warranty if not only acer can repaste it for you with stock paste dont expect TS to perform miracles if your thermal paste is dry and your fans arent cleaned :) also make sure you keep the back lifted 2/3 inches for a proper airflow

    <<It worked great for about 20 minutes>>>

Well didnt worked at all 20 minutes doesnt count (thats the time that takes your cpu/gpu to heat up and either thermal throttle or shut down if its way over 90's) if TS would work for you would be for hours/days/months not minutes :) cpu temps shouldnt go above 85'ish max and gpu 70/75

Sounds good man thank you so much for the detailed response! I'll look into doing a thermal paste. Any recommendations? :)

And as far as keeping the back lifted 2 inches off would you recommend any product for that or a cooling pad?

Ryndir the cooling pad wont do much i wouldnt spend any money on it will just end up by doing exactly the same as lifting the back but if you want one get a notepal xl dont go for those fancy with loads of fans that are blowing nowhere lol the notepal xl its a single large fan with a powerful airflow one single fan its more than enough regarding thermal paste kryonaut or similar :)

Undervolting does not increase performance neither decreases mainly controls the temps for the system not to throttle that's what causes the performance loss and the more you undervolt less power the system will use and will increase your battery life you can keep undervolting until you find the sweet spot 😊

@emowpee as far as im aware not yet as the profiles are tested/tweaked on each cpu for that to happen someone has to volunteer their machine remotely/physically and it takes time to get to the perfect settings but feel free to use the profiles either under or above yours there's not any profile for mine either im using the 7700hq on mine and even on my spin5 and aspire 5 completely different cpus and it work's you can startup with any and keep tweaking it as u wish if needed

Hello! I have a nitro 5 an515-54 core i7 9750H and so i downloaded and run the preset here for this cpu and put it to a test too see if it's stable under heavy load. i run all 6 cores at ~100% for about 20-25 minutes with all windows/nitro sense settings at high performance and the temperatures never got over 75 degrees celsius which is great, but i noticed that the clock speeds also never get past 3.58 GHz, whereas before they got over 4.2 easily when needed. Does this preset block turbo boost or the clock speeds somehow? Maybe this set up is not perfectly tuned for my laptop, bcause i thought undervolting isn't affecting performace.
    Thank you!

Of course that's what undervolt is also limit the  max turbo boost but not disabling it if you don't limit the turbo boost you can't lower the temps with just undervolting you would need to also repaste and even so it would run hot  and no limiting the turbo boost does not affect the performance but disabling the turbo boost completely might on some of the games
