G3 572 Overheating issue.

I bought this laptop in December of 2017 and i got it repasted about a year ago when the cpu started to hit high 90C even on less intense games like League of Legends. Now a year later im having the same issues. I never tried undervolting or disabling turbo boost. I was really hoping to game to my heart's content on older games but i was scared of frying it so I always held back on the graphics. Any suggestions?

This is my system in Idle. For some wierd reason the CPU fan keeps stopping. Only noticed this recently. I would love to repair this myself. But i dont have the necessary tools with me.

Yaswanth you need to replace the fan (if its physically not working)  and repaste it again with kryonaut or similar (spread method just a thin layer covering both diodes its more than enough too much paste its bad) and after optimize your windows (check my signature to find out more) and undervolt check here if you havent already and you can also install the new PS if youre interested in it check here

Here are the part numbers you need they are the exact same fans (cpu/gpu on all 2017/18 models

Yes the fan really stopped. I have had this happen when i had it repasted last year. Only happened once or twice and never again. Now Its happening again, I cant feel any air coming out and usually there is a slight hum/vibration but now dead silence.
  • Does your notebook have an extended warranty or something?

Unfortunately no, warranty ran out a couple of years ago. I am planning to do a repaste myself. Which thermal compound do you recommend?

Thanks for the detailed reply. I have contacted local shops but, oh boy when i asked what paste they would be using, they replied with 'brandless paste' or cheap brands where you get 30g for 200INR(4 USD). It would cost me less to buy the tools and paste and do it myself.

Lastly what paste would you recommend @xapim. I am torn between Arctic Silver 5 and MX 4. Or is kryonaut that much better?  Also can you share your undervolt settings? We have the same GPU and CPU. I would really love some reference to work off of. Thank you in advance.

Yaswanth yes when you go to local shops or warranty they will always use the stock paste in some countries the engineers go to your house and might use the paste you buy i recommend kryonaut or similar AS5 its old and useless these days (i had it on all my laptops repasted them all with kryonaut) it was premium 5/6 years ago not anymore :) kryonaut its the best you can get now but bare in mind over 80/85 will degrade over time (if applied properly you wont have any issues ) but any gaming laptop should be repasted and properly cleaned at least once a year or when you feel its heating up again

Change the fans and then repaste the CPU/GPU the proper way, the best method is the "Pea Method" and "Do NOT Spread it Evenly" where you put a pea-sized amount of thermal paste on the CPU/GPU and then install the heatsink over it. After this the thermal paste gets evenly spread on the processor with the pressure and temperature. I recommend that you use the "Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut Thermal Paste" which is a new age liquid metal thermal paste that has an exceptionally high thermal conductivity of 73 W/mK. This liquid metal thermal compound is made up of a mixture of metals like tin, gallium, and indium. This is the preferred thermal paste for extreme overclocking and CPU delidding,

Note: this thermal compound should not be used with heatsinks with aluminum base, because it contains Gallium that reacts with aluminum and forms an extremely fragile and brittle material, thus damaging your heatsink. It should only be used with heatsink with a copper base and should not be applied to the aluminum area of the heatsink.
