No i did hold my fingers on the subwoofer part and I did only remove the lid that covers the battery. So same as me then no difference at all with the woofer unplugged should be the same on both versions either way it's something wrong with them or if it somehow can be software related don't know how haven't seen any controls or driver itself only thing I noticed in the device manager was realtek speaker and amd but I assume and must be for audio out though HDMI or similar or do u know ?

I'm afraid not, I'm not very competent. The updated driver through the device manager changed nothing for me.

LennartF  Schnorblitz to increase the sound on any laptop/desktop i always use FX sound enhancer (for newer models with the latest realtek's) and SRS audio sandbox+dfx for older realtek's as its not supported by the latest realtek drivers and any of them boost's the sound by a lot

someone called svp tech, or ukexpressdeals on ebay, for scotland. Mine is the 256gb SSD, 1tb hdd. The thing is I thought about a new Medion with 3 years warranty, but somehow decided 30 days would be ok! If it fries itself I'm done for...

It was a bit of a gamble, and was described as grade B. It turned out to be grade A when it arrived, having been an ex-demo unit from Currys. It was built in late 2018, so the battery is pretty tired, and it arrived without a power supply which the seller remedied quickly.

It was up for 1236 (the grade A was also listed at 1320ish), but I offered 1160, cos that was my very top limit, and it was accepted. I think it was pretty much the only example available (and certainly the only one that I could afford), tho I did see one at 1400 somewhere.

Wish me luck, I need it. I think I got lucky but time will tell. The irony was my benchmark was 60fps + for Red Dead Redemption 2 (for which it beats the Intel version), but I'm struggling with mouse and keyboard controls, so I'm shamefully looking at a controller on my next payday.

Well my Acer is on it way back now from Germany should arrive on Friday from what the customer service said they had replace the subwoofer and restore it.  Hopefully the it works now even if it should have from the beginning it was a brand new computer. The subwoofer itself isn't very pricey around 20 us on eBay think I did see it on amazon also. Will give more updates as soon I get my laptop.
How has it been going for you then ?

Anyway about the battery u don't miss much it only last around one hour when playing Royal Envoy
Not very demanding game only 2d graphics probably just better eventually remove battery and save it noticed u can buy it from a UK site for 55 GBP.
Anyway about the screen it shows up as generic in device manager but after Google it a bit I found out Lenovo is using same screen in some laptops and have drivers did download that and the computer accepted the drivers and got a better color profile I think should had mentioned it before I can find the link later if you or someone else wants it.

Well got the computer back was worth to send it in ?
They changed the speaker and mic for some reason not really sure if hear any big difference reading all reviews still say it has so great sound yeah it's not bad but not great either.
Anyway it's a good laptop I have updated the graphics driver to 19.6.3 and sleep and freesync seems working good.

Gosh, good effort, I was watching a very interesting A+E nurse talking about the coronavirus and he looked a bit purple. Quite alarming as he was coughing a lot tool! i'll look into it, thank you very much for your persistence.

I'm getting an 60-75 minutes of browsing out of the battery, I'm in no rush to replace it because I don't have a huge need for it, and even a new one isn't going to make me much more mobile.

Fingers crossed you get something noticeably different upon return. Your clip sounded very similar to mine, and if you did get a result a follow up clip you would give all other users an invaluable reference point. I think this might be a problem which has been masked by our inability to compare what we have with anything, it's hard for me to judge having never heard a laptop with decent sound before.

If I had confidence that a replacement subwoofer might change things they are very affordable.

I just downloaded SDS audio essentials and I get the impression it might have sharpened the sound up nicely (again it is hard to say without easy side by side comparison), but my subwoofer hasn't suddenly leapt into life or anything. Sadly you cannot fiddle with the sliders and features without the paid version, which I might get when I get paid.

     Yup, all AMD for me.

They don't appear to have any more AMD ones left, just the Intel described as Grade B at 1309 in the clearance section.

Well it's the first lap for me to with subwoofer but don't see any big point when u can barley hear it.

The sound otherwise is decent but probably end up using headset anyway don't understand waves Maxx audio is the speakers so bad they sound only decent with it on

Well done for trying, with such a low user base we either explore things for ourseves or we don't learn. Somewhat surprisingly the Intel owners, who are more numerous, didn't have much to say in response to your query.

I did read someone suggesting that what we have is not really a traditional subwoofer, but a third speaker which is low range, which might explain the hole where the very lowest tones would be in a complete sound. My traditional hi-fi doesn't do some of this sub through my high quality full ranges either, so maybe we are just being misled by what we understand by the term sub-woofer. Dunno.

Although you can get amazing sound out of some pretty small speakers these days, I do think (with my limited knowledge) that moving volumes of air has always been how you get proper sub, but I am certainly out-of-date audio wise

I can't remember quite where I read the thing disputing the nature of our subwoofer, sadly, but I should have posted it here.

I've been listening to tunes for the last 2 hours, and I would suggest that even the free version does appear to have made the sound noticeably 'bigger'. If we discount the sub for a mo, the fidelity is peachy.

You do get a lifetime pass if you pay, so maybe listen very carefully to what you have then install the free version to see what you think. I'm going to get it soon, because I reckon it has made a difference, and the real regulars on here don't just throw out suggestions for the fun of it, it's based on experience.

I'll post on here my reaction to the full version of SDS, so others that come this way can have the option of best sound possible.

Sorry, it was SRS audio essentials free version I downloaded, and I think it has made a difference, although I can't change the settings unless I pay. Again, we are talking about a subjective impression, but I think it is better. You could try the free version and see if it sounds better to you, and roll it back if you don't hear a benefit.

Just to keep the info trail going, turning off waves didn't change anything for me. I'm running with SRS audio drivers now, afaik, rather than realtek ones.
