Acer swift 3 - Change keyboard backlight timer?
Hey guys. So just bought this laptop and loving it. One thing though, is there anyway to have the keyboard backlight always on?
Cheers,

Hi,
Go to Windows Mobility Centre(type in start search), if you have like mine(without KB backlight settings), no you don't have that enabled

Cheers for the reply. Mine is the same as yours unfortunately so I might be out of luck

No, it seems there isn't.
Please keep bothering the 'support' until Acer issues a firmware update that allows their users to change the keyboard backlight settings. Shouldn't be too difficult.

Hi,
It's a power saving feature, continuous use of Keyboard backlight will drain the battery and will reduce the usage time.

That is a choice we should be able to make. Not all of us care about battery life (plugged in). This should have been an easy fix that Acer fixed by now, but sadly it doesn't look like it.

Hi,
I managed to get the keyboard lights switched ON (permanently), by unchecking the energy saving feature of the HID (USB) entries of the keyboard in the device manager. As far as I remember, I unchecked all energy saving features in all USB/HID entries (hoping to not screw up the system) ... and magically, it worked.
So now I can switch on/off the keyboard backlight, but not set any timeout.
Maybe this works for you, too!

Has this worked for anybody else?
I tried unchecking all the energy saver options under the HID USB entries and it did not work to keep backlight from turning off

Anybody...?

Hi,
To be honest, I never bothered to research and document systematically why it works for for me and what I did to make it work.
The Windows 10 device manager has a branch 'HID' device:
In my case I unchecked the Energy saving option in 'USB Input Device (Eingabegerät) as well as in the
KEYBOARD branch of the device manager.
Did you try this as well?
_ Cheers FN

I actually unchecked the power saver option in EVERY device listed in my Device Manager--EVERY device that had the power saver option, at least.
But no, this did not make any difference.
I'm happy it worked for you but I was only able to find other people that it did not work for, so this is not a viable solution.

hmmmm, that's kind of strange.
I'm sorry it doesn't work for you as I can very well understand how irritating this backlight behaviour is.
Maybe yours is a different system with different firmware or settings?

i would rather have it on all the time with the option for turning off, surprised noone has made a third party app for it

Now I have the swift 5 and this annoying feature as well : / Would be nice to have it always ON or OFF. Please, let us see the light!

I had an Acer Predator laptop that had the same backlit timeout behaviour before. Funny enough Acer did put out a BIOS update that added the option of removing the timeout so when you switch on the backlit, it didn't time out.
So it is doable. Just need Acer to I don't know? Do it?

Hi there,Bought recently a Swift 3 and the and the keyboard backlight turning off all the time is a pain.Has anybody heard of a permanent lighting solution in the meantime?Cheers, Reems0

Hello Acer team,I have a Swift 3 and it's an amazing piece of tech, but the only really annoying thing is what the other people here have mentioned - the keyboard backlighting automatically turns off 20 - 30 seconds after the last keystroke. I also would like to have the option to have it permanently on. Piece provide such a feature....0
-
Hello!
Anybody solved this? This feature is very irritating....

Well, it's not optimal, but I just press the shift key to turn the light back on. As others have said, when it's plugged in, the backlight should remain on.0
