Does my motherboard support NVMe SSD?

    Hello

I have an ACER F5-573G. The installed Micron SSD now has errors and i like to replace it. I have found this thread and
I would like to know if my notebook supports NVMe SSD 500GB. What will be the difference of performance vs a SATA SSD?
    Which SSD will be recommanded?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi @snoboy
You can install a M.2 NVMe SSD in your model, there's not much noticeable difference between M.2 SATA and NVMe SSDs but if you transfer large files often, you will benefit by installing a NVMe SSD but if you do normal day to day work, SATA SSD should be fine.
I would suggest a Samsung 970 Evo , if you prefer NVMe SSD, if you want a SATA SSD, go for Samsung 860 Evo.

    Hi @brummyfan2
    A Samsung 970 Pro 1TB will be supported or only a 500GB?

It may work because others have installed larger drives than recommended size drives but you have to install at your own risk.

    Hi @kenjo
Highlight PCI Express Root port 9 and post the snip showing the Maximum link width in the right pane, exactly like the original picture you posted earlier, you don't need to expand the Root port, just highlight it.
