    Hello,

I don't have a Nitro  or Predator, but let me give you a list of tips and tricks that others have used when facing issues installing linux.  These are just general tips and may or may not apply to your model.

    Tip#1
If your touchpad is freezing during installation, then go in to BIOS settings and change touchpad from Advanced to Basic.

    Tip#2
Some people use nomodeset while others use an external monitor when installing.  After you get linux installed and then install graphics driver, you should be fine. (see links below on how to install graphics driver)

    Tip#3
Make sure you have the latest BIOS

    Tip#4
Make sure you create a USB recovery drive with Acer Care Center before you begin.

    Tip#5
See @JackE dual boot installation method (step-by-step)

( 0) Pre-shrink Windows partition to desired unallocated space for Linux Mint installation.
( 1) Make bootable GPT/FAT32(default) stick from the Mint installation iso such as Cinnamon with Rufus.
( 2) Set BIOS supervisor password(SECURITY), disable secure boot(BOOT)& enable F12 Windows boot mgr (MAIN). Save BIOS settings & exit. May not be needed with some Linux installations like Mint.
( 3) Shutdown & insert bootable Linux stick
( 4) Turn back on while immediately tapping F12. Select Linux stick to run.
( 5) Preferrably select a default Linux install option
( 6) Follow on-screen instructions to install alongside Windows.
( 7) Let Linux automatically set & resize partitions for Linux & its swap. Adjust for more or less space only if absolutely necessary.
    ( 8) Shutdown & remove Cinnamon stick.
( 9) Turn back on while tapping F2.
    (10) Re-enable secure boot(BOOT) & select UEFI file as trusted(MAIN). Select HDD0, SSD0 or eMMC0, then <EFI>, then <ubuntu>, then grubx64.efi the UEFI file. Enter grubx64.efi in the space provided if selecting it doesn't automatically enter it. Save BIOS setting and exit.
    (11) Boot into Windows. Then shutdown again.
    (12) Turn back on while tapping F12.
    (13) If desired, put grubx64.efi ahead of Windows boot manager in UEFI bootstrapper

There may be a few minor driver issues but nothing like the driver havoc created with some of the major Win10updates.

    Tip#6
I can't think of any more tips at the present moment.......
    I'm not an Acer employee.

    Dear @nscJohny ,

I have succeeded installing Manjaro Linux on My Nitro.  (works out of the box)
Also, had some experience using Ubuntu. During boot you have to use
    pci=noacpi
    kernel parameter.

    With regards,
    M.

I performed a successfull installation of OpenSuse Leap 15.1
but it is important to recompile the gcc-9.1.0 version of may 2019 using the "make bootstrap" command.
Everything seems to work properly also the shutdown function.

    Regards....

    Yep fedora works well..
I am typing this on a Nitro 5 running Fedora 30.
I had to change /etc/default/grub  file to read:
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="ivrs_ioapic[4]=00:14.0 ivrs_ioapic[5]=00:00.2 pti=off i8042.nopnp"
