Chromebook 15 (CB5-571) screen going blank intermittently - hinge problem. Self fix?

Hello.  I have the giant white Acer Chromebook 15.  It's already had the touchpad replaced once under warranty, will surely eventually need it again, but for now it's okay.  My problem is that the screen is intermittently flashing and then going black.  I know it's a hinge problem, because it is affected by jiggling the hinge, or slightly opening or closing the hinge.  It can be reset and brought back up by closing the cover completely and re-opening it.

Is this something that I can fix myself?  The machine has seen heavy duty for a couple of years now, but it's still very useful to me, so if it can be fixed cheaply, I'd like to keep it.

    Try the below step:

    Hard reset your Chromebook

For most Chromebooks, follow the steps below:

    1. Turn off your Chromebook.
    2. Press and hold Refresh Refresh + tap Power Shut down
    3. When your Chromebook starts up, release Refresh Refresh.

Still after doing the above step if you think its the hinge problem than you need to send it in for repair to Acer repair center
