Some external HDDs use enough power to do wonky things when connected without an external power supply for the drive.

It was working perfectly with the previous model, and with other laptops too. It doesn't have external power supply, it just uses one usb 3.0.

Yajat Battery should be near 100% charged and charger plugged in before playing games. Games usually use a lot of power and drain the battery too fast. Battery serial number is sometimes but not always on a UPC label. Jack E/NJ

What @billsey is saying the HDD running off your machine's USB3 port may be drawing more than its rated 1A  max output. In this case, you would need an inexpensive powered USB3 hub such as at this link https://www.amazon.it/AmazonBasics-Hub-porte-USB-adattatore/dp/B00E0NHKEM/ref=sr_1_1?__mk_it_IT=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&keywords=usb3+powered+hub&qid=1556889113&s=gateway&sr=8-1

I had already tried with a usb 3.0 hub with a dedicated ac power source, instead of relying on the laptop power source, but didn't changed the result.

What result do you want? Do you want to try to boot Linux from the USB port using an HDD to USB SATA adapter cable? Jack E/NJ

I said before that the external 2.5 hdd is using usb 3.0. No adapter, just a hub to get the current from ac power source instead of the laptop one. Then again with the hdd formatted the laptop couldn't boot (no power led light on, just like a desktop pc without ac power). Again, why it wasn't doing the same thing with the previous generation one? And even when it's an issue of too much current asked to the laptop, what should happen in case of a short circuit usb device (just hypothesis)? Always to reset because it can't boot if I try with the faulty usb connected?

Sorry. You're using a USB3-to-HDD SATA connector cable adapter. You can read and write from this HDD but I'm not sure you can boot from it using that adapter cable. What do you mean by "previous generation one"? Jack E/NJ

    USB 3.0 Micro-B to USB 3.0 A
By previous generation I mean as I said before that they replaced the first one (Sf314-51) with a new one (Sf314-52)

    USB 3.0 Micro-B to USB 3.0 A.

Yes, that's a USBmicroport to USBport converter. But what are you using to connect the HDD to the USBport? Jack E/NJ

No adapter. It's an external 2.5" HDD, not an internal one converted as to use it as an external one.

OK. I must ask again. Is this external HDD GPT-partitioned? Jack E/NJ

Is there a chance the external drive has been used to clone the internal one? Sometimes the cloning process will leave both drives with the same serial number, and Windows gets confused when it sees the same drive at two places.

    MBR.

    Never done.

Sorry, an external MBR-partitioned HDD won't boot from UEFI bootstrapper.  It will only boot from legacy BIOS. Jack E/NJ

It always booted with the previous generation laptop. But why does it bricks the bios of the new generation one?

    (1) Because the previous generation had LEGACY BIOS enabled for system on internal MBR partition HDD. An external MBR partition HDD will also boot from LEGACY BIOS.
    (2) You're current generation has UEFI BOOT enabled. An external MBR partition HDD will NOT boot from UEFI BOOT.
    (3) If you try to change UEFI BOOT to LEGACY BIOS mode to boot from external  MBR partition HDD, you can damage system on internal GPT partition HDD
    (4) You can also corrupt UEFI  BOOT and LEGACY BIOS by repeatedly making mode changes

I don't think that by default it was ad legacy mode, instead of uefi, but I don't know because I never entered the bios settings.
I tried with other 3 different laptop of my friends to make sure my external drive was ok, and it boot with and without linux installed.
I tried even with mine to boot normally, just like a usb drive already connected but without any kind of data inside it... and guess what... no keyboard light, no screen display light; just like i did never press the power button. Disconnecting the drive didn't solve the power on issue, but after pressing in the hole the reset bios button it was able to power on, but only without the usb drive attached.

An MBR partitioned boot HDD won't boot under UEFI mode. Yes, it can be written and read by other UEFI machine but will NOT BOOT other UEFI machines. Please understand that there is a difference between BOOTING and reading/writing. Jack E/NJ

So, if I understood correctly, then a usb flash drive (mbr) already connected to the laptop should give me the same issue, when I try to power on?!
