My brand new laptop is having problems with heating.  While I'm gaming, the temperatures can reach as high as 95 (on the CPU).  And that's with only 32% usage according to PredatorSense. Is this normal?

Things that I've done already:
> Coolboost technology enabled.
> Fans running at max speed.
> Undervoltage cpu to -.120

I'm sitting getting decent FPS, and it doesn't seem to throttle. But I am extremely worried about the high temperatures.  Just let me know if this a normal instance.

lol you think that is bad? check out mine,

    Normal Idle temp: 50C

Tried everything that people have suggested. I have went above and beyond what i can do to make this relatively new laptop to work as it was intended out of the box. I can't claim for warranty because I got this laptop as a gift from my relative based in the US. I have lost all hope at this point, and have taken upon myself to actively dissuade people from buying these crappy predator laptops by writing detailed reviews on problems I am facing on Amazon and other online retailers. This forum is littered everyday with a post like yours about facing heating and performance issues. I'm going to post this exact same comment on every post like this from now on, $1200 worth piece of ***** that cant play overwatch on the least possible setting. Screw acer and predator laptops.

No I don't want any advice on how I can make this piece of junk work.

Just take your laptop to the nearest service center obviously authorized one and report them about this issue. Ask them to change the thermal paste. I hope it works, do not do it by yourself or else it will void your warranty.

Repasted myself no improvement whatsoever. The nearest authorized Acer service center is 5 hours away. That is the last option that I have, also something that I cant do in the near future. So much hassle just to make it work nomral.

As far as i have seen all the 8th gen have thermal issues they heat a lot but usually repasting and undervolting with the correct settings solves the issue this is why i love my i5 th gen :p after repaste with kryonaut wont go over 69 cpu and 63 gpu playing on max for 9+ hours non stop all the latest games i tested on ultra my 1050ti run's it just fine it's not a 1060 but hey it works :) when u repasted did u cleaned the fans properly they usually accumulate dust in the air exit thins just wondering anyway :)

Yeah, I did clean what I could when I removed the bottom vent. Scrapped the original paste and also used cleaning alcohol. Like I said earlier pretty much tried everything I could. Every time I try something people recommended with the hopes that it would help my laptop, only to find that it made no improvement whatsoever.

    Might be really faulty then

How new is ur laptop? ive recently bought it too and notice the high temp issues when i was gaming lol. About 2 weeks since purchase and i have already send to acer technical centre for them to check it out. I have not done any undervolting yet.  Not sure if you have joined the helios 300 facebook group, u can try posting there and see if other users have any solutions for this

Hi, I hope I wasn't too late to answer this.
I bought my Predator 300 last week.
    With the specs:
    i7-8750h
    GTX1060 6GB GDDR5
    8GB RAM
    -----------------------------------------------------
For the very first time I play games, the temperature reaches 98°C.
After I did some optimization and hardware upgrade, the temperature now is reduced a lot !
    -----------------------------------------------------
    What I've done:
    1. Install Intel XTU for undervolt, adjust Core Voltage Offset to -0.110V
    2. Add another 8GB RAM with same read/write speed, it should be 2666Mhz, now 16GB RAM
    3. Buy a cooler, I think it help a little.
    4. Power Option set to High Performance, adjust the maximum processor state to 93%
    5. I've installed Malwarebytes and ESET Smart Security Premium. Scan your laptop with both of the software.(Recommended do it at least one time)
    6. Disabled unwanted startup programs using CCleaner
    7. Turn Cold Boost and maximum fan speed on, in the Predator Sense.
    -----------------------------------------------------
These actions reduce the heat from 98°C to 75°C.(maximum) for me. (After playing Rise of the Tomb Raider for 1 hour)
So I came and share this, hope its helpful for you and sorry for my bad English :D

This is late but every month i need to use my compressor or a can of compressed air to clean out the fans and the duct thing that the fans blow out of its usually very clogged and the fans are barely distiguishable as fans with all the stuff in them. after i do this i see the temps go down 15 degree farenheit i re did my thermal paste did not undervolt and i am over clocked 200mhz and playing pub g i stay around 80 degrees and i maxed out at 82 degrees my settings are mostly max

KennethHCA dont use xtu use TS instead check here (make sure you reset xtu to defaults and remove it completely shutdown dont restart and rest bios to defaults before you start on TS) and if after optimizing windows/undervolting the temps remain the same repasting with kryonaut or similar its the only solution left yourself if you can without voiding the warranty or send it to acer to get it repasted

What you did its not a solution at all you just turned off turbo boost its like having a Ferrari and cut the engine down to 70hp lol might as well get a i3 instead xd why spend oney on a gaming laptop to just cut all its performance :)

Global727 i strongly dont advise anyone cleaning the fans/exit airflow with neither compressor/compressed air they might get damaged (unless of course you know exactly what youre doing) i have seen many cases where after they used compressed air the fans stopped working or wouldnt go above a certain rpm or they wouldnt start at all and needed replacing as they are very sensitive hardware and i can say since i got mine on the first week i optimized windows/undervolted and repasted with kryonaut and my temps came down 25+ this was 2 years ago and same temps today and i also have my gpu overclocked  core clock +200 memory clock +250 :)

The best way to clean a laptop its to completely disassemble it (if possible without voiding the warranty) i cleaned/repasted a nitro 5 about 6 months ago the fans were unrecognizable couldnt even see the blades full of what seemed to be carpet pieces stuck/glued to them and this was just after 2 months use (too much weed smoking in the house lol) also dont advise to smoke/vape by the laptop or if doing it make sure its a well ventilated area the tar and vape oils moisture in due time they completely damage any hardware parts and might even cause short circuit
