Hello i was looking at this system on newegg https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834316242 and i was wondering since i saw some video's of people installing an M.2 SSD in it the video's were not in english so i want to know if i am able to install one when i get it and also if by opening the whole bottom would that void my warranty because i am looking at that system for school, work and light gaming but was thinking to pretty much add in a M.2 or get a 2tb SSHD so if there is anyone around that could help answer my silly question much would be appreciated.

    Hi,
Yes, you can install a M.2 SSD in this model, please read the thread in the link for more information, as for the warranty, you have to contact Acer Support centre to get a confirmation, normally installing a M.2 SSD won't void the warranty as long as you don't damage any internal parts but I am not sure about how the Acer Service centre handles warranty in your region, so it's better to be safe and find out from them.

Thanks cause i do like this laptop as it would be able to play what i intend to play on it as well as other things and honestly while the system does have a 1TB HDD i still would prefer something like a SSD for the main OS something like a 240gb/250gb M.2 and keep using the 1TB HDD as a secondary drive.

Also i sort of wished they would of made the slot more accessible like a tab thing to open so you could get to it easier.

    Hi,
You are welcome :)  yes, it's true that they could have left a hatch for installing a M.2 SSD but opening the back cover is very easy, you have to remove 17 screws, remove the HDD and memory module, then use an old credit card or plastic prying tool to release the tabs(try not to break anything take your time) then lift off the back cover, you have to find the screw for M.2 SSD, I didn't have one in my A515-51, I used a piece of electrical tape to hold down the SSD.

Well if there is a chance there is no screw i might as well just replace the 1TB HDD that is included for a 2TB SSHD instead i think and i could turn that 1TB into an external drive instead for back ups and such.

I also have another question concerning the GPU that is in the system which i don't know if you have the Geforce Now Beta but i was just wondering if the GPU would be more than enough for running said program and the reason why i ask this is because on the system requirements it states that i would need a GTX 800m series or above but of course the strange thing they mentioned as well for it is for AMD you need a Radeon HD 3000 series or newer and for Intel the Intel HD Graphics 2000 series or newer.

    Hi,
You need to wait for someone else to reply or create a new thread.
