Hey guys, my first post here.

Got a question, my acer predator has been doing weird lately, my screen was busted and fixed now but my screen brightness wont change (its at max so cant lower it or anything) and my fans just keep blowing for the smallest thing, like just starting up, putting netflix on, etc..
Are there any solutions for this? Thanks in advance guys!

    Hi Dkets91,
Please uninstall and reinstall the display drivers and check if you can change brightness after that.
    Follow these steps.
    1) Press the windows logo key+ X( on your keyboard together)
    2) This will bring up a box. From left panel, click on Device manager.
    3) In device manager click on arrow by the side of Display drivers. Then right click on battery driver and choose uninstall( Make sure you uncheck the box that says delete driver, if that is checked)
4)Then restart the computer to get a fresh driver installed.

Now if screen is still bright.
Select Start , choose Settings , then select System > Display. Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness. .
Let me know if this fixes the issue

Please try these options one by one and check after each option.
    >>Use the Hardware & Devices Troubleshooter
Type Troubleshoot in Windows Start Search box > Click Troubleshoot > Scroll down & Click Hardware & Devices > Click Run the Troubleshooter & follow on-screen directions > Restart the computer after troubleshooting is completed

    >>Right click on battery icon in Task bar > Power options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings > Expand Display > Locate the values under Display brightness, Dimmed display brightness and Enable adaptive brightness > Change each of these to the settings you wish, then click the "Apply" button and finally the "OK" button > You should be good.

    >>If still unable to adjust the brightness try this...
Use the computer's search and in the box type "Type Task Scheduler" (no quotes).
Right click on "Task Scheduler" in the list and then select the "Run as administrator".
Now go into the following folders... on the left of the window... "Microsoft", then "Windows", next "Display" and finally "Brightness".
Here you want to double-click on "BrightnessReset" to open its Properties.
Go to the "Triggers" tab and select the “At log on” trigger.
Next click the “Edit” and see if the "Enabled" radio button is checked
Now click on the radio button to clear it.
At last you can click "OK" on the Edit trigger page and then click "OK" on the Properties page.

You say your screen got busted and "it got fixed".
Did you happen to install B156HTN05.1?

If so that one doesn't allow hardware/brightness controls.

You can try using the software RedShiftGUI to change brightness if your panel doesn't support the Predator's hardware.

Thanks for the help so far,

I tried the drivers but when going to windows + x it shows me the laptop in device manager but then I dont see Display drivers, only battery, monitor, and many more but not the one like you mentioned @Kamalika so don't know what to do about that.

    @Sharanji ,
Did step one, the troubleshooter one, it couldn't identify the problem so I guess there is a problem there if it says that right?
step 2 of the battery icon right click, did everything but then on display only got " turn off display after.. " and " enable adaptive brightness " which are two options on on, tried off but nothing..
Step 3 also all steps done and the last one, there ain't not display folder.. It is like all the steps you mentioned like @kamalika the last one is like gone or changed..

@Red-Sand A friend fixed it but just the screen, he didn't instal anything extra so far I know of, just some extra software.. Couldn't find the RedShift£GUI you mentioned..

So so far no solutions.. Weird right? I don't understand what is wrong or missing, Should I reinstal some drivers from the acer webpage or any other things you guys might suggest? It gets annoying at night time the huge brightness flashing in your eyes haha

Anyways, thanks for your help so far guys, hope we can find a fix to this together

    Hi dkets91,
Thanks for your response. looks like the display driver is missing in your computer. Please download the display driver by going to acer support site.
    Go to http://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/
    Then choose your country.
Ones in this page click on support to top of the page and choose drivers and manuals from left pane.
Now put in your computer's snid and click find.
Click on drivers and look for display drivers. Click the download button and download that for your computer.
After that is done, please let me know if your issue is resolved.

    Hi Dkets91,
Under drivers please choose the VGA driver. That is the display driver for your laptop. Choose to download the Intel or NVIDIA depending on your sub model and download it. Let me know if that worked.

It says I got newer versions installed of both, should I replace them for an older version then?

    Hi dkets91,
Thanks for your respond. Before doing that, can u please go to device manager and locate the VGA driver and uninstall and reinstall that first. If you have not changed the OS, then after that if issue does not resolve, try going back to the previous version. Please keep me posted. I hope this works for you.

Yeah man I run a Facebook group with 4200+ members and every so often someone installs that exact panel and tries to figure out hardware controls and noone has yet.

Try the redshiftgui I just checked and someone posted it at least lets you control brightness from there and set macro keys.
