W700 screen split / white screen on sleep or sign out

We have purchased 2 W700 i3 tablets.  We need them to be on Windows 8 Pro for our business and do not want to upgrade the current image.  I have installed a fresh Win 8 pro onto one of the laptops.  I then installed all drivers ( not the DPFT as it will not install ).  Once this is done whenever the tablet goes to sleep, or I sign out the screen either splits with a white-band in the middle or goes completely white.

If I disable the Intel HD 3000 device then it all works fine.

Can you please let me know what I have missed to solve this issue.

I would highly suggest doing an upgrade on a unit to see if it resolves the issue for you.

When you say upgrade - upgrade to what?

We need to be able to roll-out a corporate image to these tablets.  I've compared drivers to another w700 and cannot see any differences at all.

I feel I must be missing some form of driver or setting.

Have you tried the hd 3000 drivers from intel or just Acers?

Might not work but worth a try. If the problem stops when you disable the hd 3000 device it must be driver based.

My recommendation was be to upgrade to Windows 8 rather than doing a complete fresh install, so that any drivers or applications needed would already be available on the system.

We are not going to be able to support 'a corporate image' or another operating system other than what shipped on the system.

So we are saying then that this paticular Acer hardware is not fit for a corporate environment?  That is a shame.

And there is no way that Acer will be prepared to mention which driver / setting I am missing to enable the tablet to operate?

I thank you for your time though.

Thanks Jason2234.  I agree with you that it must be driver related.  I have tried all HD 3000 drivers I can find and all exhibit the same issue.  The driver on the tablet that still has the Acer OS install is the same version and everything so my guess is that I am missing something else that is not listed.

You could spend ages trying to figure out what is wrong. Since there is no reason that the Pro version shouldn't work on this machine, I would recommend clearing everything off and reinstalling Pro again. This won't feel as rewarding as solving the problem, but it should work.

From my experience, this issue occurs only when using x86 (32-bit).

x64 (64-bit) does not exhibit this problem.

Has anyone successfully fixed this issue yet?

Because i have deleted all the partitions upon the installation of Windows 8 Pro and now i can't use the recovery package originally installed on the recovery partition.

Am I supposed to return this or something?

Microsoft (Default) Drivers = NO PROBLEM

Intel Drivers = PROBLEM, need to wait for fix from them.

I tried this with Windows 7 and 8, so problem is with (Intel) Drivers, not Windows.

I am disappointed actually, I rather have 32-bit for 16-bit support of DOS games...

The problem is - after a clean install of Windows 8 Pro, immediatly after the first boot (before installing any drivers from acer support website), after putting it to sleep and waking up the screen turned white/splitted.

that's too bad, not sure what is causing that problem...

would Acer or Intel or Microsoft care to help us customers?

You should try recovery to "factory" state using the CDs that are in the package. The recovery partition is not unique: for Windows, not Acer.

Failing that, you should return or exchange your DEFECTIVE unit.

    Good Luck!

Well i guess i kind of "fixed it" by unninstalling the intel hd drivers, then it will install the default ones, and then change the on/off button setting on control panel to hibernate instead of suspend (i hope there is no loss on performance). I guess this is not really a fix but a "temporary avoiding trick" of the issue, untill the new drivers are released

I have the exact same problem on my W700.
Anyone else has a fix that's not uninstalling the intel drivers?

Try uninstalling the Intel graphics driver completely (including uninstalling it from Device Manager), then try installing the one from Acer support page, if the problem still appear, remove it completely again, and install the Intel version from here https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=22842. Hope this helps

A lot of time has passed since the last post. Is there any available solution to this problem from Acer or Intel?

I believe the current drivers on Acer's site have that in them. Have you gotten them yet?

The latest VGA driver for Windows 8.1 x64 from ACER Drivers and Manuals (version 10.18.10.3304     154.4 MB     2013/10/28 ) does not install on my W700 all. The message I get is:

"This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software".

The latest VGA driver for Windows 8.1 x64 from Intel (version 9.17.10.3347) installs, but split screen by white bar problems still exists. The problem occurs not only returning from sleep mode, but also connecting W700 to external monitor/projector using included Acer W700 VGA adapter accessory.

Hmm, I'm running 10.18.10.3327, so must have gottem them from the Intel site. What specifically do you have to do to create the symptom. I'llntry it with mine to see if I can duplicate it.
