Im still in my 30  day return window. This unit has froze 3 times today. My other unit never froze like this. Im also getting frame rate drops and it was not caused by thermal throttle.  Im tempted to return this and get a different brand laptop. I could try for a third one and hope it was like my first one.
Just give it back... get a G3-572 this time. Or...
I want a 17" and more USB 3.0 or i would. Thats what my buddy has and has not had a issue yet.

I should have stuck with my original one It seemed steady at 88ish under full load. But i got 2 hard locks where i had to take off the back of the laptop. I wish i could contact Acer and they would send me one that was made sure to have good thermal paste on it. If i take it to a Computer repair shop and have them repaste it would i loose my warranty?
Yes... you would void warranty, if you opened and did this yourself. You could try asking if they would apply the re-paste for you at a local center while you waited.
There is no local stores near me at all. I live in rural PA about 3 hours from a Major City like Pittsburgh.

I also purchased a $350 SSD Drive for it and 32gb of ram for it as well that are out of the return window. So that's about 500 that i would be out.

Yeah it's clearly running hotter with a lower ambient temperature, equally the CPU is holding 3.4GHz.  Tends to infer that the thermal efficiency is not as good as it could be.

I doubt the case, however you could try something rather counter intuitive and apply heavy load to the CPU.  My P-17 has some miles on the clock. Some thermal compounds improve efficiency after being exposed to temperature.  Stock TIM is generally designed for best longevity, equally I have no details on what Acer uses or if it improves with some exposure to heat.

btw not Prime95, OCCT or the likes :)

Very much depends on the terms & conditions, best to ask the provider.  Don't worry about the fans unless your going to keep the notebook for 5-6 years, even then they are significantly cheaper to replace than the motherboard.

If elevated on a cooler it's generally good enough, if you want to really get into it, try sealing the base of the notebook with the cooler with foam strips (adhered to the cooler), this will help to force more air into the air intake vents, equally don't expect miracles, random ideas and all :) maybe worth a degree or two C.

GTX 1070 can pull as much as 125W which is a lot of power/heat to dissipate.  Also worth noting the GTX 1070 can easily render in the region of 20 FPS more than the GTX 1060 on ultra, equally at a higher TDP, other factors come into play such as display refresh rate with the G9 793 being 75Hz, versus the more common 60Hz.

If I would have known all the issues with this unit test frequent crashes and frame rate drops I would of stuck with the original maybe I will see if Amazon will send me a 3rd unit

If you are using Amazon... I would suggest you rethink before ordering third. Amazon is finicky about disabling customers with returns, even genuine ones. Err on the side of caution.

OK let's work with what you've got.  First need to get the system stable, set the undervolt to -100mV both CPU Core & cache, run the same applications/games etc. see if it locks up or not.

You can verify Windows if you want as follows:

Check for corrupt system files by opening the Command  Prompt (under Administrator) type sfc /scannow  This will search and fix some errors if uncorrectable the system will advise.

The Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool can repair deeper issues, however you will need a decent connection and the Windows Update client must be functional.

Quick check - Command  Prompt (under Administrator) type: DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /CheckHealth
Deeper Scan - Command  Prompt (under Administrator) type: DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /ScanHealth
Will Repair & modify any errors - Command Prompt (under Administrator) type: DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Some commands will take time to execute so you need to exercise patience.

Yeah I order everything with Amazon because of where I live. They gave me the second one with no issues. I don't wanna send it in for repair because it's band new and I will be out of my 30 day window. Out of all the laptops on Amazon it seems to have the best reviews . Ahh not sure what to do it's the only thing I have very returned from them in 7 years

ST, do you have a Costco membership by chance?  If you order the laptop from them online, there's a 90 day return window and if you use a Citi Costco Visa Anywhere card, you get an additional two years of warranty, so 4 years total.  I'm also on my second Predator 17 unit and am in a similar situation to you where I'm not sure I want to keep it.  The first one overheated and got a dead pixel after 60 days.  My new one has no dead pixels yet and now that I've undervolted seems to be handling itself well, but is making a weird, rhythmic humming noise which is driving me nuts.  Maybe return your unit to Amazon and reorder from Costco if possible...

No cosco near me maybe 100 miles away or so . Amazon is only offering me a gift card for it not even a full refund .Since it's a opened electronic I may be stuck sending it to Acer to fix

Your screenshot error messages indicate a system issue, not something with software.

Good start, reduce the undervolt to the point of stability.  Personally I'll back off another 10% to ensure stability; -100mV, -150mV makes a difference 5 or 10 mV very less.

Any idea of what kind of hardware issue?

Now that is really weird! I run two tests... one for 64M, and another 256M with 8 threads, and in neither case did CPU reach past 65 C.

And regarding hardware, i could only think of that based on error you got (thinking like a software engineer that i am here). No idea of what exact piece of it though.

Can you try doing a heaven benchmark please.

Can you please try adding my power plan (since its all windows 10, it should work irrespective of laptop model) and enable that. And then run this again.

Just rename the txt to pow and then import it. Maybe this could help.

I run the heaven benchmark at full ultra full screen, and the max spike was 73.
