    Hello, can I use ths SSD: ADATA XPG SX6000 256GB M.2 ASX6000NP-256GT-C
in this laptop (acer E5-575G 53DQ), or should I see another ssd? (its more cheaper than samsung NVM ssds)
I checked the PCI-E m.2 slot, and the max. link width is 2x (PCI3.0)

    Hi,
Yes, that will be fine, you won't see the difference under normal usage.

Thanks for the fast reply :)

Hi, I saw that you are an expert on the M.2 SSD subject so I would like to ask your advise on my upgrade decision. I have an Acer Aspire E-5-575-32XC. I am looking at the following item on Amazon: WD Black 256GB Performance SSD - 8 Gb/s M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive – WDS256G1X0C. Based on your posted advises I ran the HWiNFO64 program and found that my computer has three entry under the Bus with PCI info. The first one is #9 and these are the details:

Device Class:  PCI-to-PCI Bridge;  Revision ID: F1 [A1/C1] - PCI Address (Bus:Device:Function) Number:       0:29:0; PCI Latency Timer:   0;  Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9D18&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_F1

    PCI Express
Version: 3.0;  Maximum Link Width:  2x;  Current Link Width:  Not negotiated;  Maximum Link Speed:  8.0 GT/s;  Current Link Speed:   2.5 GT/s;  Device/Port Type:  Root Port of PCI Express Root Complex;  Slot Implemented:  Yes;  Hot-Plug:  Capable;  Hot-Plug Surprise:   Capable;  Emergency Power Reduction:   Not Supported;  Active State Power Management Support: L0s and L1;  Active State Power Management Status: L1 Entry; L0s Exit Latency:  512 ns - 1 us; L1 Exit Latency:  2 - 4 us; Maximum Payload Size Supported:  256 bytes; Maximum Payload Size: 128 bytes

I am looking for your opinion whether the above PCEI SSD is compatible with the computer or not.

    Thank you in advance,

    George

    Hi,
Yes, it should work as you have Maximum Link Width value of 2x for PCI Express Root Port.

Hi! I'm sorry, I read all the comments on this topic, but I do not understand that much and everything is not clear to me. Can you please tell me "Samsung 960 EVO PCIe NVMe M.2 2280 250GB" is suitable for my laptop? Or you can offer some SSD disk for my laptop. I have Acer Aspire A717-71G, SNID:72404821834. Is there a free slot for SSD?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
Sorry, I'm not familiar with the programs you mentioned, M.2 NVMe SSD will run at half the advertised speed in your laptop as 2 lanes are enabled, NVMe SSD fares(Faster) better when you transfer large files often, please watch the video as well.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdF_aerWcW8
    NVMe SSD(2 lanes enabled)

    SATA SSD

In this video i saw Nvme ssd better but you said it will work on half speed in my laptop so it will be slow than M.2 ssd or Sata ssd. Please tell me i don't know about which one can be better ? If i will go acer service center in India they can show me performance by upgrading these ssd which one is better for me ? Because my laptop is  under warranty.

    Hi,
Yes, as you are within the warranty period, it's better to get the advice from Acer Support centre in your region(Country) so that you are covered by warranty.

    Hello,

I got a Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe SSD 250GB and wanted to put it in my Acer Aspire VN7-791G-78EL. I put it in the slot, but system doesn't see the disk, does it mean that it doesn't support this SSD or there is another problem?  I don't understand much about this, but isn't these ports 3 and 4 taken? Which is the M.2 port?

     Best regards

    Hi,
I don't think you can use a NVMe SSD in your model, only a M.2 SATA is recommended by Acer.

Hi! This thread is really useful. I have a E5-575G(-598W) and I'm going to upgrade it with a Samsung 960 EVO through the M.2 port. I know this laptop's M.2 port has x2 lanes, not x4. But I don't mind (I need quick access time [low latency] and quick random read, and those are great with that SSD in my model as I've seen in this forum). The last doubt I have is if I could have the 500GB version or only the 250GB. I ask because I've read that Acer had said that recommended max. was 250GB (for M.2 SATA- I think I've read they didn't know it could run PCIe).

Do you know if 500gb PCIe/NVMe through M.2 port is safe and if it will run properly?

    Thank you so much.
