Two week old Aspire E-15 with nominal use causing issues: HDMI etc.

Hello.

Basically, the first thing that had me suspicious was the 12 hour installation upon first turning on the thing. I was waiting for hours for it to set up to the point I had to go to bed and leave it overnight. Never had that experience before with a laptop. Secondly, it has a crashed a few times . Only software installed are VLC and Serato DJ Intro. 8gb ram can comfortably handle that.

I have nothing else installed. I don't use illegal sites as I have enough online paid for streaming services.

The laptop also whirs and makes noise even though, as I said, it's only 2 weeks old (12 days actually).

And the biggest issue and deal breaker is the HDMI to TV issue I am presented with.

I plugged in my old HDMI cable and all of a sudden it stopped working upon first time plug into new laptop. I obviously thought nothing but "old HDMI cord needs replaced". I tested the cable on another laptop (also Acer) and yes it had died. No sweat. Bought a new one. Tested the new one on my old laptop and another TV in work: works fine. Bring it home. New laptop and my own TV: screen is bright but OK I can handle that as it looks fine and connected as normal. But the audio is crackling and popping and any videos being played while connected speed up and slow down. Now, I've tried the other HDMI port on TV and changed the ends of it around to no avail. I am now very suspicious of my new laptop being faulty. 3 cables now not working (one died upon meeting the new laptop!).

Curiously, I had my TV switched off earlier but HDMI TV to laptop was connected briefly and the audio crackled through the laptop speakers as music played. Absolutely bizarre. The laptop speakers with NO HDMI connection work fine.

This issue is a total deal breaker. Audio crackles and videos don't play correct speeds. My last laptop was an Acer and I loved it so much I wanted the same again but the upgraded version. Sorely disappointed with these issues so soon into my relationship with it!

A summary of what I have tried:

  1. The laptop speakers with NO HDMI connection work fine.
  2. I changed cable and bought new one. Then tried a third cable. All don't work properly with this laptop.
  3. Tried the same cables on another TV with another laptop (aforementioned older Acer) and it worked.

Last resort is taking the new one to work to test it on the other TV. If it doesn't work in there, then it's being returned.

I am wondering if anyone can offer advice on this big issue and also tell me if a 12h first time turn on is normal.

Sorry for the blurb and thanks in advance.

    Tinkerer

I just re-installed Windows and it also took me all night. On top of that my Aspire keeps powering off while I'm running programs even at full charge. I came to this discussion forum to get information because my warranty expired yesterday but customer support had me try multiple resets and installs for the last couple of days - I thought by at least having an open ticket and reference number that I would be in the system and they would be aware that I had a problem but they refuse to let me contact Acer directly anymore and just send me the link to this forum. Just keep that in mind as you try to fix your brand new Acer computer.

I'm not going to give advice on what you should do.

Does ACER not have anyone willing to help?

My laptop also restarts without warning with battery life. I am very close to returning the product and going to HP.

Laptop connected to HDMI crackles wildly audio on YouTube as well as speeding up and slowing down the video. Yet I can stream a paid football subscription without issues.

I streamed something else on an unpaid football site and got the same speed up/slow down issues.

I am sending the laptop back but for my own sanity; does anyone know why this happens?

It happens on every TV I connect this trashtop to.

Speeding and slowing up audio, too! Spotify included.
  • Can you tell us the exact model of your notebooks? It is possible that the interlock button is not pressed properly and therefore the notebook is turning off the battery!
However you can try uninstalling the battery driver here:

About hdmi, as fast start up must be enabled, I recommend you reboot your notebook by plugging the hdmi cable! Then try pressing windows + p or fn + f5 to change the screen!
If it does not work, you may need to update your video drivers! You can copy the idhardware from the intel and nvidia video card or download the drivers from the websites of these manufacturers:

On the audio, uninstall and delete the driver in the device manager as there are many reports of users with similar problems and that are resolved when windows downloads the default audio driver:
