Hi,
I have an Acer Aspire V3-112 P laptop and my laptop is 1,5 years old. 2 weeks ago windows 10 had an update for my laptop, so I installed it with succes. After this update I could use my laptop keyboard for like 1 week fine, but after 1 week it didn't work anymore. The weird thing is, I can use my keyboard when I am logging in on windows, but after I logged in I can use my keyboard only for like 30 seconds and then it won't work. After turning off and on my laptop the same thing is happening. I don't know if this is a hardware problem or a windows problem / software problem. I scanned my laptop with multiple anti virus scanners, such as Anti Malware Bytes. Everything was fine they said. I honestly don't know what I need to do. Maybe I need to go to a laptop shop to fix the problem? I use this laptop for school and I don't want to reinstall windows because I will lose all my data. It is really important for me, please help! Thanks !

Open device manager. Check to see if there's a keyboard rollback option and try that. Jack E/NJ

  • Hi,
Go to Device manager(right click start), expand Keyboards, highlight and right click Standard PS/2 keyboard, click Properties, go to Driver tab and uninstall the driver, reboot and let Windows install the driver, let us know if that helps.

    Hi,
I uninstalled the driver and the strange thing is I ve could use my keyboard  fine but after 5 minutes it didnt work again. normally i could use my keyboard for 1 minute. But the only thing what I can do with my keyboard is that i can set my screen darker or lighter with FN left arrow and FN right arrow. Maybe a hardware problem?
  • Hi,
yes, it looks like a hardware problem.

So does that mean you also couldn't find a KB driver rollback option to try in Device Mgr? Jack E/NJ

Racin8de---Cold boot. Then immediately start tapping the F2 key to enter the BIOS menu. If you get into the BIOS menu, press F10 to save and exit BIOS settings. Then let the machine start normally. Do you have a keyboard now? Jack E/NJ

Thank you+ Jack E, Yes I did do that but keyboard still don't work.   It just died while I was writing an email to my brother. The last letter I typed just faded slowly into the screen then nothing. I took the Laptop apart and looked at the motherboard to see if there was maybe a crack or something burned out, but all seemed fine. I then reinstalled windows 10. I bought a USB stick with my factory operating system and settings and still nothing. I'm went and bought a USB keyboard for the moment, I really don't know what else to do..I've had pretty good luck with this Laptop for almost two years, well until now. Do you have any other suggestions? thanks again for the quick reply

If you were able to access the BIOS using the keyboard keys, then your keyboard must've been working. Thus it doesn't act like a hardware issue.  I suggest that you try to reset the machine to a factory-fresh state from a hidden spot on your HDD by following this video using the ALT+F10 coldboot recovery method. It's best to backup your personal files before you do. Do not wait for the ACER logo to appear after pushing the power button, just press the ALT key and start tapping away at F2.

I've had my Acer Aspire a long time and the keyboard went years ago.  I have used a $20 wireless one  ever since on my lap

@ANNSTEY The KB connector to the mainboard probably needs to be re-seated. Easy fix on most Aspire models. Jack E/NJ

     Hi There,

    With reference https://www.acer.com/ac/en/ID/content/support-product/5612;

Your product is compatible only for windows 10 version. We need to know what built of higher version of windows 10 update you installed in the PC.

Check in the link and check whether your product is compatible for the latest built of windows 10.

    https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/windows10s-compatible-list

If your PC is not compatible you need to revert back or your need to do a full factory restore to the previous version.

I have an Aspire V3-112P.  All attempts to enter the bios fail.  Is the keyboard information getting to the system?  How can I proceed to get my laptop functional?
