Ram only detects/use half of its capacity (3,9gb out of 8gb, laptop E5-552G-F6X5)
hello, i want to ask about my laptop thats using only half of its capacity, picture below to prove my point
as you can see, it says that it got 8,0 GB DDR3 memory, but only using 3,9 GB (4,1 on hardware reserve)
why is that and how can i get all my RAM capacity back? specs are below
Acer Aspire E5-552G-F6X5
fx-8800P proccessor
8GB DDR3 L Memory
Windows 10 Pro 64bit
thank you.

Hi,
You could try removing the memory modules and swap them around, make sure they are correctly inserted.

Hi
Perhaps if you use Piriform Speccy and copy in the results for memory and graphics it may help.
Possible reasons (and I do not know if it is 2 x 4 or 1 x 8 that you have).
4Gb allocated to Graphics engine.
4Gb allocated to virtual disk.
Faulty install.
Mismatch of modules.
False reporting.

unfortunately i cant do that, i cant open up a laptop, im afraid that its gonna mess up my entire system.

Any solution for this problem?

Hi
We can eliminate the 32 bit OS, and it has matching 4Gb modules.
Mis-reporting is also discounted.
I would check thru the BIOS settings looking for an allocation of memory to graphics area. Also if there is any gaming software creating a Vdisk to speed up memory.
So chck speccy for Graphics next.
I have 8 gig Type DDR3 Size 8192 MBytes
Physical Memory
Memory Usage 34 %
Total Physical 6.94 GB
Available Physical 4.52 GB
Total Virtual 11 GB
Available Virtual 8.29 GBand I have
ATI AMD Radeon(TM) R4 Graphics
Manufacturer ATI
Model AMD Radeon R4 Graphics
Device ID 1002-9851
Memory Type DDR3
Memory 1024 MB
Bandwidth 12.8 GB/sSo my 6.94b available to my OS plus the 1 Gb allocated to my graphics engine = 8Gb

ok so this is the info i get from speecy
i have DDR3 Memory with 8129 MBytes capacity, channel Single (but uses up 2 slot, what?)

Bandwidth 16,0 GB/sas im checkhing from speecy, i noticed that the "Available Virtual" memory goes down from 4.1 to 3.7ish, but it doesnt expand the physical memory. and i still doesnt get where that "Available Virtual" memory goes.
if it comes to me needing to swap memory slots, is there any guides how to deassemble this type of laptop? when i tried it myself it seems like its stuck on something even tho i already unscrew all the screws.
sorry for bad english, not my first language.

a little update, so i tried to open up my laptop and change ram slots, but unfortunately nothing changes. so i guess is not a hardware problem..

Hi,
Go to Control panel, System and Security, System, click Advanced system settings, click Performance, click Advanced tab and check how much Virtual memory is allocated.

Hi
Your problem is not a lack of english.
You posted earlier that you had 2 memory modules, each was 4Gb.
i have DDR3 Memory with 8129 MBytes capacity, channel Single (but uses up 2 slot, what?)
Speccy reports 2 slots filled and none empty, see your earlier post.
This gives 8 GB, your graphics card says Crossfire disabled, this tells me you have a good quality graphics card.
############
this laptop uses 2 (Apu and GPU) graphics, below is the detailed information
################
ATI AMD Radeon R7 Graphics
ATI AMD Radeon (TM) R7 M360 - Memory 2048 MB
######################################################
So add it all up. 3.9 for RAM, 2 Gb for M360 and I expect 2 Gb for the other making a total of 7.9Gb.
So you have 8Gb and it is allocated.
################################
http://support.amd.com/en-us/search/faq/70 - Crossfire is the ability to couple 2 graphics cards together and enhance their abilities.
#######################################
So perhaps throw away the graphics cards and see if you get to use the full 8Gb as RAM.
If in doubt please ask.
