Hello, 9Mar17

My Acer Aspire One 532h is running Windows 10 32bit, slowly but was working just fine.

I tried to boot from a USB drive but was unable.  Then while trying to get into the BIOS screen, I believe I corrupted the BIOS.  Now it won’t do anything.  No lights will come on (screen, power, disc, etc).

Can any help, suggestions?

Eric.

    Hello, 10Mar17

Thanks for the link, but not sure this will help me.  The 532h will not turn on.  Power button will not light up or any of the other led lights.  Pressing or holding down the power button does nothing.

Was running fine (upgraded) with Windows 10.

I was trying to boot from a USB drive but it did not seem to recognize it.  The USB drive was plugged in on the right hand side.  I tried different key combos FN+ESC, etc.  Trying to get the BIOS screen to come up.  Restarting/booting each time.

Fininally, on one of the tries the power button started to blink every second or so.  The screen never did show the BIOS menu.  I let it sit for over an hour thinking it would boot from the USB drive.  It never did.  I then forced a shutdown by press and holding the power button for 10 seconds.  From that point on I can not get it to do anything.

Again, the power button does not light up, no leds, the screen nothing.  Before this it was running great.

If I remove the battery from the BIOS will that reset it?  I’m guessing its a BIOS problem.  Since it was working fine moments before.

try the CMOS battery removal but i'm not sure this will fix your issue.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

I think your power supply hasn't been charging your battery. Take battery out and check battery voltages with a multimeter. You may need to insert pins into the battery slots to attach multimeter leads. Just check two slots at a time to see if you can  get any voltage readings at all between any two of them. Report back. Jack E.NJ

    Hello, 11Mar17

I have not had a problem with the battery charging.  Last year I bought a new one from Amazon.  It would not surprise me if the battery is now drained/dead.  Since now the LEDs will not light up even when plugged in with AC.

The battery has 7 contacts.  I will see if I can find online which contacts to test.  Wail i’m at it, I will test the AC power cable too.

I have to admit, I am completely dumbfounded how easily it was to truly brick this 532h pc.  In all the other post I have read the power button would at least blink/light up.  Show some sign of life.

No need to go online. You're only checking for signs of life between any 2 contacts with a high-impedance voltmeter. Start with an end contact with probe1. Then quickly check each of the other 6 with probe2. Then probe1 to the next contact. Then each of the other 5 with probe2. And so forth and so on. Only takes a few minutes to go thru all the combos. If the battery is OK, you'll probably find about 3, 5 & 12 volts between some of the contacts. Jack E/NJ
