Acer Aspire V3-574G memory upgrade above 8GB

I'm using my laptop for heavy multitasking and sometimes programming. Most of the time I always completely use up my 8GB of RAM. I tore down the laptop within the first hour of purchase and I can only find 2 slots (1 free slot, 1 slot with an 8GB stick).

I'm planning to upgrade this to 16GB but I'm having doubts since:

1. I tried attaching an additional 4GB from another laptop (different freq, still DDR3). It booted, CPU-Z can detect the additional RAM but the system isn't using it (still on 8GB).

    - I tried to use only the 4GB stick and I think it's incompatible since the system won't boot.

2. I used Crucial's memory upgrade checker and there's a small footnote that says "*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory." All of the options there did not exceed 8GB.

Will adding another 8GB work? If not, how do I bypass the 8GB limit using an easy way? (I don't mind modding the BIOS).

    Hello,

    Your laptop supports up to 16Gb - DDR3L - 1600MHz (OS 64-bit).

Here are the original memory modules of 8Gb:

    Spoiler
    KN.8GB07.022SODIMM.DDR3L.1600.8GB (Kingston)
    KN.8GB0B.030SODIMM.DDR3L.1600.8GB (Samsung)
    KN.8GB0G.022SODIMM.DDR3L.1600.8GB (Hynix)

You'll find the brand and the part number in the SPD tab of CPU-Z. I suggest you to buy the same memory module.

About Crucial, you misunderstood their information. That means 16Gb (Not to exceed the Acer specifications).

Oh cool. I didn't see the maximum memory part that's right above the manufacturer limit warning.

    Seriously. I didn't see it.
