Hi guys,

I got an Acer Aspire E3-111. It's cheap i know but it's all i got for now. I recently installed windows 10 and opted to do a clean install. Everything went fine and all until after a few days, i discovered the touchpad isn't working (been using an external mouse). I looked at the Device Manager and i discovered it was not there at all. I tried Fn+F7 and it only made it worse. Now my keyboard won't even type. I fixed the keyboard tho. Turns out everytime i turn my laptop back on, it's back up until i decide to do a Fn+F7 (which supposedly would turn my touchpad on and off).

I tried these already:

1. Fn+F7 (takes my keyboard away but dos nothing to touchpad)

2. Installing new drivers from the Acer website (i even tried reverting to the old drivers, to no avail)

Note: Even the device manager won't recognize the touchpad. I hope it's not hardware since it only happened after installing W10. What should i do?

please help asap. Smiley SadSmiley Sad would greatly appreciate it guys.

    ActivistBro,

Perform a system restore to when it was working, it could be a bad installation of an update or something else that is causing problems.

then it never came back when i tried it again.

Smiley Sad any more ideas? (i hope i don't have to uninstall Windows 10, i really love the Start button)

    ActivistBro,

You can try performing a refresh to see if that will fix possibly corrupt or damaged file issues, should that fail, I would go back to Windows 8.1 and upgrade to Windows 10 again, it sounds like some software might not be working correctly.

    Thanks again bro

Actually some of the software and devices were dubbed as "unknown device" when i first installed Windows 10 but i fixed all of them (except the touchpad obviously). So now i think that reverting to 8.1 and installing Windows 10 again is a really viable solution. I'll try that and will let you know what happens.

in the meantime can you walk me through how to revert to 8.1? Also, am i assured i can go back to Windows 10 when i do?

    Thanks again!

    ActivistBro,

Here is an article that explains how to go back to your previous version of Windows. As for upgrading again for free, certainly, you have already digitally entitled your computer to a free upgrade by upgrading the first time.
