Acer crashes to blue screen when connected to HDMI. Advice to upgrade nVidia driver... but no more

I have tried to attach my Aspire notebook to an HDMI cable to drive a projector.

Each time I do this, the Aspire crashes to a blue screen.

Have seached various forums to seek a solution.

Advice seems to be to upgrade the nVidia device driver.  However ho more recent driver seems to be available.

Is there another solution?

  • Hi Robin,

Is that a desktop or laptop, could you also help with product model?

    Hi Sathya:

If you solved my problem, I should glady give you Kudos!

This is an Aspire Notebook V5 - 571.  Running Windows 8.1.  Other forums have suggested installing latest nVidia drivers from Acer site... however it seems that there is no driver more recent than the one already installed.

So I reckon this is an outstanding bug.

    Best Regards

  • Hi Robin,

This Model has a Acer converter port, have you tried a VGA output & does it work?.
Have you checked if the HDMI Port is damaged?.
If no damages found, I would contact support suspecting bad Port / GPU.
