I have an Acer Aspire E1-532-2448 and I have just tried to pair it with a Bluetooth speaker iHome. I have failed to make the pairing as it immediately disconnects after connecting. I am getting a message:

Removal of device node 'BTHENUM\{0000110c-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb}_LOCALMFG&0045\7&32bd02fd&0&001BB8787C93_C00000000' failed with error code 0x800F020B.

I have given up but I cannot now get the computer audio speakers to work. I can listen via headphones but the computer speakers will do nothing. Can anyone help?

Win7 or 8? Does device mgr show any error messages?

The error code suggests that your machine might not be equipped with the bluetooth hardware that depend on those drivers. So the system might have been trying to automatically remove the device drivers and couldn't quite finish the job. Does device mgr show any device problems now after the failed and presumably-removed bluetooth driver installations?

    Jack,

I'm not very good at the internals of the computer but I have checked the Device manager see below. There is a caution against the Bluetooth Audio DEvice and I thought that that might be the problem but the event dates don't stack up with today's date. So I'm puzzled.

OK. I first suggest trying to disable the bluetooth device from device mgr to check if your machine's speakers come back to life. If not, then go back into device mgr and uninstall the bluetooth driver. You'll probably have to re-boot to make these changes. Report back with results.

    Thanks

    Jack,

I've had to uninstall and reboot the machine. Still no sound other than via headphones. Could it be something as stupid as the jack socket? I seem to recall that when the jack is inserted it breaks the contact to the speakers. Is it feasible that the contact is still no remade? I have to say that I only used this socket for the first time last night.

That's also possible John. Check to see if your speaker icon recognizes when the headphones are plugged in and when they are unplugged. May take a few moments for it react to the changes. Then right click on volume control properties to make sure all the sound devices are enabled.

    Jack,

I've opened the volume controls both at the bottom right of the screen and in iTunes and evrything seems to be working. I right clicked the Speaker icon for the Realtek system and that says everything is OK - just can't hear it!

There was no obvious change in anything when I plugged in the headphones or took them out.

    >>>There was no obvious change in anything when I plugged in the headphones or took them out.>>>

If you gave it enough time to react, the headphone image should appear and disappear when you click on the speaker icon depending on if they're in or out. If the contacts are somehow stuck, I would expect the headphone image to remain whether they're in or out from your description.

    Jack,

Just to clarify, are you talking about the volume adjustment in the bottom right of the screen that responds to the sound? It has a speaker icon at the top and "Mixer" at the bottom and with the meter responding to the sound between.

Yep, John. When you click on it without headphones plugged in you should see a speaker image. When the phones are plugged in, the speaker image should change to a headphone image in a minute or so.

    Jack,

The earphones have been pluged in for about 8-10 minutes but there is no change in the icon.

OK, John. That's sort of a good sign to me as it means the physical contacts inside the jack probably aren't stuck in the "headphones in" position. I'm guessing the audio driver may have somehow been corrupted during the failed bluetooth installations. So, assuming there are no longer any traces of bluetooth drivers in device mgr (you uninstalled them, right?), my next move would be to uninstall the realtek audio driver in device mgr and let Windows try to re-install a fresh copy of the driver on rebooting.

Well, looks like your almost but not quite back to square one. Windows seems to have reinstalled the realtek HD driver that you uninstalled at 8:26pm. But it's apparently not turned on for some reason, ie "status: 0"

In speakers property, please note "use this device(enable)   v". What options are available when you click on the "v"?

I think you want to enable it. Did you go thru the troubleshooter? Sometimes, but not often, they actually work. 8^)

    Hi Jack,

I don't think that I have. I'm at work at the moment but will try when I get home this evening.

    Regards
