Aspire V5-573 Bluetooth Firmware Old or Out-of-date (Atheros)

Hi,

I have found many occurrences of a "warning" in my System log for Btfilter claiming that the firmware is old or out of date - presumably related to the Atheros Bluetooth device in my laptop.

The warning actually states: "The driver has detected that device \Device\ATHAMPFL has old or out-of-date firmware. Reduced performance may result."

I've asked Acer Support for help but all they did was a) suggest I installed the latest drivers (which I did and already had) then b) reset to factory condition (after backing up my data etc etc), and when I queried how this would help as I had observed the condition only a few days after purchasing and initialising the device, they suggested c) send it in for repair!

As Acer certainly haven't a clue that they are prepared to share with me, has anyone else seen these warnings and if so has anyone got any thoughts on how to resolve the situation?

Kind regards, Stefan

Here's a printout of the entry in the System log:

Never heard of it. Does your Bluetooth work?

Bluetooth works after a fashion but I get other error messages about it in the log. So, rather than think, "it works what's the problem?" I think, "it works for now - what if it stops because the situation changes for the worse and it's out of warranty?" I also think that Acer have put together a duff system configuration and haven't the balls to admit it when I ask them for help.

Below is another log entry from today:- I've picked out the salient message in red...

    Kind regards, Stefan
