Hi,

"Nitro ANV15-51" is my Laptop model that I bought last week after researching online for possible max upgrades for it a week before buying the laptop, found people had commented with 96gb upgrades as well. I intend to use it for couple of years so I had planned on upgrading it max before buying.

But it seems I have didn't pay attention in my initial research as this Nitro 15 has several models and it seems I mixed up all of them.

Right now I was trying to find compatible RAM to upgrade for this model, but as per my understanding it seems, this model can only hold up to 32 GB ram max. If thats the case I am going to be sad as I had bookmarked a 64GB RAM available at a good deal.

Anyone here who can confirm if this is correct? Laptop model is "Nitro ANV15-51", i5 13420.

Thank you

    Hey @alex _the_great01,

You're absolutely right to be cautious—nobody wants to gamble on 96GB RAM without solid confirmation. Even 64GB is pushing it, and while Crucial lists it as “possible,” there’s a big difference between theoretical support and real-world validation.

🔍 What We Know So Far

    • Your Nitro ANV15-51 with i5-13420H is part of the newer lineup, but Acer hasn’t officially documented support beyond 32GB.
    • The Intel Ark page for the i5-13420H confirms DDR4/DDR5 support up to 64GB, but that’s CPU-level, not motherboard-level.
    • Crucial’s configurator sometimes lists 64GB as “compatible,” but that’s based on chipset potential—not Acer’s actual firmware limits.

    🧪 Real-World Testing?

So far, no confirmed reports of 64GB working on this exact model. Most users stick to 32GB, and anything beyond that is uncharted territory. If someone does try 64GB and it works, they’d be doing the community a huge favor by posting results.

    💡 Bottom Line

Until someone tests 64GB and confirms stability (boot, BIOS recognition, no throttling), it’s best to treat 32GB as the safe ceiling. If you’re eyeing a good deal on 64GB, maybe hold off unless there’s a return policy.

Let me know if you want help decoding Crucial’s specs or checking with other vendors like Kingston or TeamGroup.

I suggest that you follow the Crucial RAM upgrade guide for the Nitro ANV15-51 model that you have (btw, Crucial RAM is a Micron ram) as they have a 64GB kit at 2x 32GB DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 here; Crucial 64GB Kit (32GBx2) DDR5-5600 SODIMM and this ram will be downclocked in your ANV15-51 to a DDR5-5200MT/s speed as the cpu in your Nitro ANV15-51 laptop has a max 5200MT/s speed, so it will not work at the 5600MT/s speed of the actual ram. The 64GB kit that you have if its a DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 it will work in the ANV15-51, but be patient, as when you fit this new ram, the laptop can take up to 3min for this bigger capacity ram to register with the system before ethe laptop boots.

If you want to go even higher to the higher and max ram at 96GB/5200MT/s capacity/speed of the 13th Gen cpu in your laptop, technically it is the CPU that determines the compatibility with the RAM in terms of frequency and maximum size which in the ANV15-51 situation its 96GB at max DDR5-5200MT/s speed, so fitting the DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 type ram should work in these 13th Gen cpu's and DDR5 type ram.

Btw, I've upgraded my 2023 MFG laptop with the Crucial 64GB DDR5 kit in my Predator Neo PHN16-71 -50JG model that has an i5-13500HX cpu/RTX4050 gpu/ and my cpu has a max Intel designed ram capacity/speed of 128GB/4800MT/s, so my 64GGb kit is at 2x 32GB DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 (which is another kit that Crucial recommends for your ANV15-51laptop) and this 64GB kit works 100% and perfectly in my PHN16-71 laptop and never ever had a BSOD or crash. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

Thank you @Puraw and @StevenGen for replying.

Sorry for the late reply, I was actually frustrated initially cos I didn't check the model and ram expansion thoroughly as I thought I did before purchasing this laptop. I knew whatever I was buying right now is what I will be using for few years for sure so I wanted to have my system with max specs it was capable of.

I am not very techy in these laptop specs regards so I am kinda confused from the replies as from one it seems 64GB has to be checked and only then can it be confirmed, and in the other there is a another laptop model example for which I did check the specs(Predator Neo PHN16-71), it does state 32 maximum but as stated in the reply, 64GB was installed and working fine.

So I am not really sure what to do, looks like 32GB is a sure shot, 64GB might just work but if it doesn't then thats something I will most definitely regret as I can't afford that kind of failed expense atm.

I currently use my laptop for Video editing, gaming and newly just started Machine learning, been struggling with 8 GB.

I believe its all up to me to decide now, I will post an update when I buy it.

Just one last question, even if I buy 64GB(or 32GB), how do I check after installing that the ram is working to its full capacity, because I remember 2 years back my friend had upgraded ram in her old laptop but she was novice like me as well but unlike me she didn't even do any research regarding it and bought just based of the GB size, I don't remember much but I think we used CPU-Z to check and the numbers being way off than what it should have had. I have zero memory what we even checked that moment, so just wanted to ask in regards to that, how can I confirm the ram I bought is working in great sync with my laptop.

Thank you once again, appreciate your time and suggestions.

Hey Alex, totally get the confusion—RAM upgrades can be tricky when vendor specs, CPU limits, and real-world testing don’t align. Acer officially supports 32GB (2x16GB) for the ANV15-51, which is the safe bet. Crucial lists 64GB as compatible, but that’s based on chipset potential, not Acer’s firmware validation. Unless someone confirms 64GB working on this exact model, it’s best to treat 32GB as the reliable ceiling. If you do try 64GB, make sure there’s a return policy and give the system time to boot—it can take a few minutes to register larger modules.

@Puraw Thank you for the quick reply, I understand, I just wish it was simple for a non tech person like me :).

If I do buy a 64GB, if its not compatible, will it harm my system?

if the 64GB works, How can I verify? I mean will it work to its full capacity or in limited range (other limitations than it being downclocked to my laptop's maximum capacity DDR5-5200MT/s) Where do I check if its working or not, sorry that might just sound very basic or stupid, but I have no idea and I don't want to make and mistakes like I did with this and regret later :) do I check in the task manager or CPU-Z somewhere?

Most probably will decide in next two days which one to buy, my brain wants me to be safe and get 32GB but my heart wants to risk it with 64 GB. :)

    Thank you again.

    Hi Alex,

You're asking the right questions, and it's great you're thinking carefully before upgrading.

✅ Will 64GB RAM Harm Your Nitro ANV15-51?

No physical damage will occur—but if the system is hard-limited to 16GB per slot, then installing 2×32GB modules will likely result in no boot at all. The system won’t partially detect the RAM or downscale—it will simply fail to start until the incompatible modules are removed.

    ⚠️ Real Risk: Losing Money

    • A 64GB kit (2×32GB) costs around $200
    • If it’s not compatible and your vendor doesn’t offer a cash refund, you’re stuck with expensive RAM you can’t use.
    • Acer officially supports up to 32GB, and there’s no confirmed report of 64GB working on this exact ANV15-51 model.

    🎮 Performance Reality

    • 32GB RAM is more than enough for gaming, video editing, and machine learning.
    • The extra 32GB will likely never be used, unless you're running multiple virtual machines or massive datasets.
    • Most games and creative apps rarely exceed 20–24GB usage, even under heavy load.

🧪 How to Verify RAM After Installation

    Once installed:

    • Open Task Manager → Performance → Memory tab to check total recognized RAM.
    • Use CPU-Z or HWiNFO64 to confirm module specs, speed, and timings.
    • If the system boots and shows 64GB, great. If it doesn’t boot, the modules aren’t supported.

    🧭 Final Advice

Unless someone confirms 64GB working on this exact ANV15-51 model, stick with 32GB. It’s the safe, supported option and will handle everything you’ve described—without risking your wallet.

Hope this helps you make a confident decision!

Hey Alex_the_great01😁, as I've told you above, the 64GB kit will work with your Nitro ANV15-51 model laptop, ram capacity and type is dependant on the cpu and with these new laptops, Acer does not limit their speed and/or capacity, so your Nitro ANV15-51 model with its 13th Gen cpu which has like the i9-13900H/i7-13620H/i5-13420H these cpu's max ram capacity is quoted by Intel at 96GB and at a speed of 5200MT/s and Crucial ram which is a Micron ram, make the DDR5-5200MT/s type ram for this laptop, so you should update and buy this ram at 2x 32GB DDR5-5200MT/s CL42 as its the perfect ram for your Nitro ANV15-51, DO NOT fit any other ram, buy the kit below which Crucial retail at USD $229.99 for this ram kit:

So the above ram will defiantly work and NOT damage your laptop, just as an example, I'm using a Predator Helios Neo that Acer recommends for its Gen 13 i7-13700HX or i5-13500HX cpu's 32GB max total at 2x 16GB DDR5-4800MT/s type ram and I've updated it to 100% more ram at 64GB 2x 32GB DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 type ram and it works 100% without any crashes

Btw, I know that this laptop will also works with 96GB ram (which Crucial also make a kit) so your Nitro ANV15-51 laptop will handle 64GB at DDR5-5200MT/s CL42 which Crucial RAM has available above.😁so just go ahead and do the upgrade. Good luck and hope this solves this ram upgrade for this laptop forever,
