Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with my Acer SF314-55-52JS, related to the audio drivers and the fingerprint sensor.

After reinstalling Windows 10, the drivers for both audio and fingerprint are not being recognized, despite several attempts:

-Running Windows Update

-Searching online for drivers

-Installing the official ones from Acer’s website

-Using Intel’s official tool to detect missing drivers

-Trying other programs that automatically search for driver

Could anyone please help me out somehow?

Thank you very much,

Andrea

Ciao a tutti,

ho un problema con il mio Acer SF314-55-52JS, riguardante i driver per l'audio e per i finger print.

Dopo aver reinstallato Windows 10, non mi sono stati riconosciuti i driver per l'audio per il finger print, nonostante diverse prove:

-windows update

-cercare in giro i driver

Grazie mille,

Andrea

Hi @Bozzo330 , This model (SF314-55-52JS) is a 2018 legacy Windows 10 laptop, and the last BIOS update was released in 2019 — so keep expectations grounded when reinstalling.

🛠️ Driver advice: Avoid Intel’s Driver & Support Assistant or other third-party driver tools. After a clean Windows 10 install, it’s best to let Windows Update automatically install drivers, especially after a reboot. That’s the most stable path for older Acer machines.

⚠️ Windows 11 warning: Once Windows 10 support ends in October 2025, this laptop won’t be a good candidate for Windows 11 upgrades due to limited OEM support. Best to migrate to a newer Windows 11 laptop or consider switching to Linux, which runs well on this hardware and offers long-term support.

Thanks for sharing your setup — others with older Swift models will likely face similar driver headaches.

Open Device Manager on your laptop. Find the audio and fingerprint items that aren’t working—they’ll usually have a small warning sign next to them. Right-click on each one and choose Uninstall device. After that, restart your laptop so it can reset things and prepare for a clean driver install.
