Hi everyone, I'm having an issue with my PH-72 Acer laptop Mini Led screen—it glitches intermittently, but pressing slightly on the bottom of the screen or adjusting the lid angle sometimes temporarily fixes it. Based on this, I suspected a display cable issue.

I opened up the laptop to check, and the cable appears to be properly connected, so it might be a damaged cable rather than a loose one.

I live in Angola, where it doesn't seem to be any official Acer support available. Is it possible to purchase a replacement cable and do the repair myself? I'd really appreciate any guidance on finding the right part and any tips for a safe replacement. Thanks in advance!

    Hi jfogaca,

Your instincts are spot-on — this really does sound like a bad eDP cable. The fact that pressing or adjusting the lid temporarily restores the display is a classic sign. Even if the plug looks properly inserted, it might be slightly misaligned or the cable damaged internally. Replacement is possible, and DIY is doable with caution. Look for the PH-72 compatible Mini LED eDP cable — part numbers are tricky, so sourcing it from a reputable vendor or Acer parts distributor is key. When replacing, take care not to overbend the cable during reassembly, especially near the hinge.

    Thank you Puraw!
Any recommendation of a reputable vendor or Acer parts distributor? Or any idea how can I look for them?

Laptop screen intermittent image problems like you are experiencing with your screen, that and when you press the bottom of the screen its image comes back and its functioning properly, is either that the screens eDP cable plug at the bottom is faulty or not making 100% contact with the screen or one of the screens mainboard chip(s) is faulty and/or not soldered on properly and is partially making contact and when you are pressing the bottom of the screen it makes contact and the screen image is functioning properly, which could also be the same with the eDP cable plug at the screen.

If you want to fix this problem yourself, then check the eDP plug and if its pins are not shorted at the bottom of the screen where it plugs into the screen, but if its the screen mainboard, then you need to change the screen, as you need special tools to fix and know which chip to change for proper screen function. This is what you have to establish first before you can repair your screen problem. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

If your Predator Helios laptop is the model number PH16-72 (as there is also a PH18-72 model which is an 18inch laptop) then the below parts is what you need, so buy these parts, but first establish that its the eDP cable or the screen.
