I have an Aspire 3 15 that is only a few weeks old. The touchscreen keeps not working. I called customer support once, and the agent told me that any time something gets connected by USB the touchscreen will stop working. He walked me through going to the Device Manager, choosing Human Interface Devices, and disabling one of the options. Then I had to restart my laptop.

Upon restart, things worked correctly. But the time after that that I used my computer, not so much. The touchscreen failed again. I have not managed to get the touchscreen to work again. It doesn't matter that I hadn't connected any devices by USB. Just nothing on the touchscreen.

How do I go about getting this issue fixed?

Hi Emily, Thanks for sharing your issue. Since we now know it’s an Aspire 3 15, that helps narrow things down a bit. Touchscreen failures can be tricky, especially when they persist after a restart.

If the usual Device Manager fix isn’t holding, and USB connections aren’t the culprit, one option worth trying is Windows 11’s new In-Place Recovery feature. It lets you reinstall the current version of Windows without losing your files or apps — useful if a system component is misbehaving.

I've only had the laptop for a short time but the problem happens every time I try to use it. I'll try the reinstall and see what happens.

I did the Windows 11 reinstall. Again, my touchscreen worked the first time I used the laptop but not after that. Here's an image from my Device Manager showing that the HID compliant touch screen is greyed out.
