The laptop just gets stuck, and I can't do anything unless I perform a forced shutdown.

I don’t know what’s happening, but today when I tried to turn on my laptop and pressed the power button, the keyboard lights came on, but the screen stayed completely black — not even the Acer boot logo appeared. I tried holding the power button to force a restart, but still nothing happened. So I closed it for a while. In the evening, it turned on and worked fine for some time. But later at night, I faced another issue — while watching a movie, the entire system suddenly froze. The screen stayed stuck on the movie scene like it was paused, and nothing responded. At first, the keyboard lights were still on, but after a few minutes, even the keys stopped working.

I had to force shut down again using the power button. I restarted it, but I really don’t know what’s going on.

Please help — I need every possible reason, solution, or tip. This is urgent, and luckily, I’m still within the warranty period

    Hi Gokul_1234,
Laptop Freezing – No Battery Reset Hole on Most Nitro Models, so attempting a manual battery discharge isn’t an option.

If your system is freezing randomly and also failing to boot (no display, no logo), and you're still within warranty, the safest next step is:

🔧 Don’t open the laptop — doing so could void the warranty. 📩 Instead, contact Acer Support in your country and file a repair ticket (RMA) online. They’ll guide you through warranty-based instructions by email.

➡️ You can start here: https://www.acer.com/support Just enter your product serial number, select your country, and follow the RMA submission steps.

Hey Gokul, thanks for the update. Since your laptop is working intermittently and you're planning to file a warranty claim in September, here are a few non-invasive steps you can try in the meantime. These won’t void your warranty, and they may help reduce the frequency of freezes or boot issues:

    🔧 Basic Stability Checks

    • Run: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth then SFC /scannow → These commands repair the system image and check for file corruption.
    • Disable Fast Startup: This can cause black screen issues after shutdown. (Control Panel → Power Options → “Choose what the power buttons do” → Turn off Fast Startup.)
    • Check Event Viewer: Look for critical errors around the time freezes occur — it may reveal hardware or driver faults.
    • Monitor CPU and GPU temps: Use HWMonitor or CoreTemp to catch potential thermal throttling early.
    • Run a RAM test: Use MemTest86 (USB boot tool) to rule out memory instability.

📅 And just in case the issues worsen, keep a log: jot down times, symptoms, and conditions (e.g. watching video, idle, heavy load). This strengthens your warranty case if you file later.

✉️ You’ve already had an SSD replacement, so these new symptoms might hint at another hardware fault. If freezes start happening daily, I’d suggest not waiting — intermittent issues can turn permanent fast.

Hey @Gokul_1234 a few targeted suggestions to help isolate the freeze and boot issues — and avoid them worsening while you hold off on warranty filing:

🧪 RAM Stability Check: Try running MemTest86 from a bootable USB. It's a non-invasive tool that can detect memory faults not always caught by Windows diagnostics. Even small RAM instabilities can trigger random freezes, especially during video playback or sudden load changes.

🎧 Peripheral Audit: When testing, boot with all external gear disconnected — headset, mouse, hubs, etc. Some headsets with advanced drivers have been known to delay or block driver initialization. MS forums have flagged cases where boot hangs trace back to peripheral driver conflicts.

🗂 Event Viewer Nuance: Thanks for sharing screenshots! All those “critical” logs showing up within a 3-minute window likely stem from a single system freeze — it creates a ripple where services time out simultaneously. Don’t worry, that’s fairly common after a forced shutdown.

    🔍 What’s more useful:

    • Filter Event Viewer by Event ID 41 (Kernel-Power) for hard resets.
    • Check Event ID 1001 (BugCheck) for system crash details.

Those help spot patterns across sessions, not just a one-off freeze.

📝 Bonus Tip: If you’re planning to wait until September for warranty claim, start keeping a simple freeze log — what apps were running, any peripherals plugged in, battery status, etc. That way you’ll have a strong RMA case if the issue escalates.

Hope this helps — and good luck riding out the warranty window safely!
