So I made a similar post a few days ago but I just want a little bit more insight. I've been doing some testing in games and whenever Im on battery my cpu runs at 68-75, but the moment I plug it in It'll immediately jump to 92-95 then go to around 85-92 and stay there even with my cooling pad and max fan speeds (Even when I'm just playing Minecraft bedrock). I also get frequent blue screen only when plugged in but that's a separate issue that I'm going to fix by reinstalling windows with a USB

Those are normal temps for gaming even if it gets to the mid 90s as that is how these laptop run, the 13th and 14th Gen Intel cpu's have already a temp issue so those temps you are running are just fine.

I'm do allot of gaming with the PHN16-71 with the 13th gen i5-13500HX cpu and RTX4050 gpu and my laptop reaches those temps and it performs its just fine, I don't lose any fps and my laptop gets to a max 95°C and performs just fine. I'm using a laptop cooler also and the PS fans also compensate just fine for these higher temps.

Do some Benchmarks with FurMark, GPUz, Unigine_Superposition-1.1, Unigine_Valley-1.0 and OCCT software's. as my PHN16-71 as in those tests my laptop ranges between 85°C to max 87°C with these benchmarking programs and Unigine_Superposition-1.1, Unigine_Valley-1.0 all run at 185 fps. So if you have a i9-14900HX cpu and the RTX4070 or above, you should get allot better fps. Good luck and hope this gives you a guide of what you should benchmark your gpu and cpu with.

Yeah but what I want to know is why the temps skyrocket the moment I plug my laptop in since whenever I'm on battery, it runs cool

Another thing is that my games and programs would randomly close as well without warning. It won't freeze up and turn white, it'll just close itself and only when it's plugged in

Have the laptop checked by Acer Tech Support as that should not be happening, there must be something wrong with the main power rail or the EC BQ chips that regulate power in your laptop and they might be either faulty or the EC chips program is corrupted. As those symptoms do not happen on my laptop, and I play some pretty high end and demanding games on the PHN16-71-50JG model, but I also upgraded the ram to 64GB at 2x 32GB DDR5-4800MT/s CL40, as that makes a difference in gaming also, so that it runs allot cooler,

Be aware that these laptops can run allot of ram, and the more ram they have the better they run with DDR5 memory, they are not like the old laptops. Have a look at a post from a community member that is running 96GB at 2x DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 type ram with his Predator Helios 3D 15 SpatialLabs Edition that runs the 13th Gen Intel i9-13900HX cpu with the RTX-4080 gpu as your PHN16-72 will run that capacity ram also. Hope this helps you further..
