I have two Aspire 6930 laptops from December 2008. They will run under Linux Mint 22.1 Xia, but the issue at hand is that I just want to update and refresh my system BIOS first, as they have never been flashed since new.

Put in the Serial Number, got a response that "Serial number not found." Put in the SNID, got an answer that "SNID not found." Does Acer disown their machines when they reach a certain age? I don't need 2025 drivers for my 6930s, only the last BIOS that Acer had for these Aspires. Why does Acer claim that my laptops don't exist? Most infuriating, as I also have a 2008 HP and a 2015 Dell, and I had no trouble downloading the latest published BIOS and flashing the motherboards in those. Any ideas on what to do would be welcomed.

Thank you so much for the help. Yeah, the BIOS on my Aspire 6930 is from DEC 2008, the very first they had, ver. 3121. And it seems like that the newest that Acer ever had is only 11 months more recent, from NOV 2009, that would be the "cummulative" version 3238. Right now the old BIOS is really struggling, I have great difficulty in navigating its screen which is a really old-looking "Phoenix SecureCore Setup Utility." I sort of managed the Boot Priority Order by moving USB HDD to 1st position. The other BOOT OPTIONS I see are IDE HDD, IDE CD, PCI LAN, USB CDROM, USB FDC, and USB KEY, these are "Excluded from boot order." Laptop has no OS installed now, only a virgin 480GB capacity WD Blue SSD. So I figured I better flash the BIOS first before trying to intall Linux Mint 22.1 Xia from a USB stick (with MBR partition). Okay, so now I have my BIOS ver. 3238 ZIP folder on my desktop on a Windows 8 machine, how to proceed? I un-ZIP it and then copy everything onto a blank but formatted (maybe FAT32) USB stick or only copy some of the un-ZIPPED files? Then insert the USB stick into the laptop, turn it on, and then the BIOS update should commence automatically? Thanks so much again.
