Acer TC-705 i7 CPU Fan is not spinning. Is it due to Graphics Card which is faulty that's causing?

If you want a better gpu card like the Radeon R7-240 graphics card or a higher spec and that dosent require a bigger PSU than a 500W, then upgrade your Aspire TC-705 desktop to the oem Acer 500W PSU that is fitted to this desktop by Acer, see the part numbers below and search for a PSU on eBay and in your area, as they are available and are not expensive, they are between and less than USD $100.00 to max $150.00.

With the SSD, what that guy did is used a Mini PCI drive and he inserted it into the WLAN slot of the Veriton mainboard and he used the LAN for an internet connection.

Thank you very much StevenGen for your helpful technical information.

I believe that I already have an R7-240 Graphics Card installed. The picture is pretty good and smooth playing on my Dell Monitor 5:4 ratio model P1917S. I have two of them side by side and they have both VGA and HDMI sockets so that two computers can be connected to either one and whichever computer is switched on has priority.

I will check on the "Quiet PC" website if they keep the 500w PSUs you identified and what the difference between them is? Hopefully, I can continue with the existing 300w PSU and that the extra Memory Ram I fitted will not cause any undue stress. I wonder is there any way or diagnostic programme (like Speccy, etc) to actually check what wattage is being supplied by the PSU when the computer is on and running?

I don't understand what you described "With the SSD, what that guy did is used a Mini PCI drive and he inserted it into the WLAN slot of the Veriton mainboard and he used the LAN for an internet connection."

If possible, could you please say if these sockets/connections are physically situated on the Acer Aspire TC-705 i7-4790's green-coloured motherboard picture and items numbered 1-23 (shown in your posting of 31st May).

Don't worry about what I said about the MINI_PCIE1 slot, as that slot is only useable for a WLAN card and it can't be used for an mSATA drive with the MINI_PCI interface, see this article here that explains it all.

With the Aspire TC-705 desktop you are stuck with either using the 3x SATA III 6Gb/s slots for a boot drive and storage purposes or and either, using the PCIE16X1 slot that has a theoretical 32Gb/s speed - at 16-lanes PCIe Gen 3 connection, as this slot with an M.2 adapter, will work with a Gen 4 x4 type M.2 SSD drive and will utilize its speed, if you want a quicker boot drive instead of a graphics card, so realistically you are stuck between a rock and hard place 😁

    Thank you again, SteveGen.

I am content with my present Acer TC-705 i7-4790 setup following the new Noctua make fan 80 x 80 x 25 (71.5mm mid-holes distance) having been fitted and the extra Memory Ram DDR3 that I also installed the other day bringing it up to 16Gb in all.

As far as I can see, the Acer TC-705 i7-4790 does not have a plug socket for a case fan despite all the holes in the rear metal panel of the computer. Perhaps the case of the computer was also used for another Acer model as I noticed that the HMDI output on the internal graphics is blocked off.

For keeping duplicate files (mainly "My Documents", I do have three Seagate FreeAgent Drives (320Gb each) plus two more modern Seagate 2Tb external drives plus other assorted drives all connected by USB and some also by Firewire 400 if preferred or a caddy.

My main regret is that Microsoft dropped Outlook Express 6 (OE6) for operating systems after WinXP, as I have some 100,000 thousand e-mail (and attachments) stored on my Acer Veriton 7700GX running WinXP (which does not allow me access anymore to numerous websites owing to my old server "Madasafish" (Plusnet) not having been updated, I was told.

On my Acer TC-705 i7-4790, I have created an Outlook.com e-mail address but I am too scared to attempt importing my OE6 e-mails even if it is possible (preserving the Folders structure, etc). As I result, I use my WinXP computer for all correspondence and e-mails (apart from when I post on your Forum as it doesn't work with my Acer Veriton 7700GX at all).

The circular CPU Fan (Sunon PMD1208PKV1 3.7w 12v) on the 7700GX is very noisy at times and I am wondering if any modern quiet fan could be fitted in the very restricted and awkward space barely available. Although the Veriton 7700GX's motherboard has 4 pins, the computer seems to have come with a 3-pin CPU Fan plug and likewise for the Case Fan socket. When the computer starts up, the noise is very loud but then it calms down but now and again, it starts making a bit of a whining noise again hence I am not interested in ordering the Singapore Sunon fan (even if still available) but would seek to try to fit a Noctua or other high quality make if there is space and using a 3-pin plug.
