Five month laptop should not have battery issue. It can be temporary battery glitch. To solve this perform internal battery reset using below article in share:

I couldn't find a battery pinhole reset button on my device, and holding the power button for 30 seconds didn’t resolve the issue.

Try the reset process three times in a row, as some users have found this necessary.

Make sure the laptop is completely turned off, then press and hold the power button for 1 minute. After 1 minute, release it, then press and hold the power button again for 1 minute. Repeat this one more time.

You should visit the nearest Acer service center for a battery replacement or to have the battery connection checked. This is likely a hardware-related issue. A similar case was reported by a user in 2021, whose laptop had the same problem just two weeks after purchase. Acer resolved the issue within 30 minutes by replacing the battery. You should do the same.

Please bring your laptop and all necessary documents, such as proof of purchase, to the service center. Since your laptop is only about five months old, your battery issue should still be covered under warranty. If the problem is due to a manufacturing defect not cause by your mistake then Acer should repair or replace the battery free of charge.

If you have any questions about the required documents or the location of your nearest Acer service center, you can contact Acer customer care via online chat for assistance- support.acer.com

Send you laptop to Acer Tech Support in your country as a 5 month old PHN16-72 laptop should not be turning off when unplugged from its adapter, the problem could be from a faulty EC or a Chipset chip that Acer technicians will probably change the mainboard for a new board, so do this asap and don't let the warranty expire on your laptop and also DO NOT open the laptop as it could void the warranty. Remember that a new mainboard for one of these laptops is very expensive and its like USD $1,148.99 to replace, so get your PHN16-72 fixed asap. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

To check your battery health, run powercfg /batteryreport in Command Prompt to generate a battery health report. This will help you determine if the battery is functioning properly. Next, visit Acer’s official website and check if there’s a BIOS update available for your Predator Neo 16. Updating the BIOS can sometimes resolve power issues. If the problem persists, reset the battery driver. If none of these steps resolve the issue, contact Acer’s support team, especially if your laptop is under warranty. They can confirm whether the battery needs replacement and provide further assistance.

If your Predator Neo 16 laptop shuts down immediately when unplugged, it's highly likely that the battery is not working or is failing. This could be due to a worn-out battery, a short circuit, or damage caused by factors like heat, liquid, or impacts.
Here's a breakdown of potential causes and troubleshooting steps:

    Possible Causes:-
    Battery Degradation:
Batteries have a limited lifespan and can degrade over time, losing their ability to hold a charge and power the laptop.
    Battery Issues:
The battery itself might have internal problems like a short circuit or damage that prevents it from functioning properly.
    Charging Circuit Problems:
The laptop's internal charging circuit or the power adapter could be faulty.
    Software Issues:
In rare cases, a software glitch or a problem with the power management settings might cause this behavior.
    Troubleshooting Steps:

    1. Check the Power Adapter:
Ensure the power adapter is working correctly and that the cable isn't damaged. Try using a different power adapter if possible.
    2. Check the Battery:
If the laptop shuts down immediately when unplugged, the battery is likely the culprit.
    3. Run a Hardware Test:
Some laptops have a built-in hardware diagnostic tool that can help identify battery problems.
    4. Update BIOS and Drivers:
Make sure your laptop has the latest BIOS and device drivers, as outdated software can sometimes cause compatibility issues.
    5. Check for Software Changes:
See if any recent software updates or changes have been made that might be interfering with the power management.
    6. Consider Battery Calibration:
Calibrating the battery can sometimes help with issues like inaccurate charge readings.
    7. Contact Acer Support:
If the issue persists after trying these steps, it's best to contact Acer support for further assistance.
If the battery is indeed the problem, it may need to be replaced. Battery replacement is a common solution for this issue.
