TC-7800 Displays Graphics in Win 10 Safe Mode Only

I am desperate for help addressing this frustrating problem. My TC-7800 boots up Win 10, but the onboard graphics do not display anything unless I reboot into Safe Mode. I tried to download the graphics driver, but its impossible win safe mode. I don't have another Windows PC to get the drivers, if that's even the problem.

I've tried SFC and DISM, and I've run virus scan on the entire HD - with nothing identified.

I will be really happy if f anyone has experienced this problem and knows of a solution (besides recycling) this soon to be brick.

Have you tried removing, cleaning the contacts (rubber eraser) and reseating it ??

Also it may be defective (BAD) ?

Does the card show in DOS ?

I may have posted this question under the wrong category. So, I reposted the same question under Aspire desktops.

Update to my OP: I tried installing the intel drivers for the Intel HD Graphics 630 card, but got an error message that said, to paraphrase, the driver is locked and can only be updated from Acer. So I am stuck and would appreciate any advice.

    TIA,

    Umrk

TC-780 maybe? I don't know of a TC-7800 model. There was also a TC-780A model line. Some of these came with a GPU card installed. Does your have one?

#9 above. If so, the onboard HDMI ports (#2) would be disabled at boot.

    Hello Billsey,

You are right. It's a TC-780 (KBL) with an Intel HD Graphics 630 card to be specific. And yes, then graphics card is on the MB. But the HDMI port has functioned cup until today. Why would it suddenly be disabled at boot? Anyway, everything I've tried, including uninstalling the Intel driver dated 7/17/2017, version 22.20.16.4735 has failed. Even tho I found the driver on Intel.com, the install failed because Acer locked the driver. So, if you know any way around this, please let me know.

    @Umrk111

Try to use the safe mode with network. Download the Display Driver Uninstaller to uninstall the Onboard Graphics driver fully.

Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
Thank you and have a nice day!

    Hi @AhhE228,

I cannot find the correct graphics driver posted on Acer, even after entering my serial #. Similarly, I tried searching Acer for the Display Driver Uninstaller with no luck. The more I try to get my pc running, the more I realize that I bought a useless, POS brick. and the greater my conviction that I will never buy another Acer product.

    Hi Larry,

The graphics card on this pc in on the MB and not removable. I tried different HDMI cables, I've tried uninstalling the driver its locked by Acer (think you), and the fact graphics displays using windows basic drivers indicates to me tat the driver is corrupted. But Acer has made it impossible to install Intel drivers (again Thank you ACER). The graphics driver that comes uo after I enter the serial number is not the same driver that was installed when new. I don't know, it seems like a straight forward problem, but Acer has made certain to block users from installing graphics drivers - which is a despicable act.

If it's like Billsays," #9 on his image then it should be removable. Can you post a picture.

Also have you talked to Acer support about the driver situation ?

The graphics card is soldered onto/built into the MB. There isn't a PCI express card, for instance, to remove. I only wish it was this easy a fix.

I tried contacting Acer support, but the pc is out of warranty, so my call and chat attempts were cancelled once they determined the warranty is out. So, the only other option is to use their 3rd party support where you have to pay ahead of speaking with anyone. Which I refuse to do because the only guarantee is paying for support, with no guarantee that they will fix it.

As this drags on, my hatred and disgust for Acer grows.

OK, I understand and I understand Acer's position of not supporting a 7-8 year old computers. Lots of $$$ for them to pay employee's for old stuff.

Please try ONE last thing. UNPLUG, Remove the CMOS battery and let sit overnight.

    Then plug back in ?

BEFORE you do the above, IN SAFE MORE, please run the recovery/ reset.

    Good Luck .

The 630 is a GPU built into the chipset, not a PCIe card. You should be able to install the latest drivers from Intel. When it complains about it not being the "special" OEM version, just tell it to ignore that and install anyway.

DDU isn't an Acer product, it's a third party app that is designed for fully uninstalling graphics drivers. Your symptoms tell us that the GPU driver in Windows is corrupt, which is why it works in safe mode, where a generic driver is installed instead.
